So I went and grabbed dad and we made the drive out to Beaverhill Lake today. We found one point of access on the south / southwest shore of the
"lake". I can't recall but I think this was called Francis Point or something like that. It's dry as a bone. However there's still enough moisture for
grasses to grow and a bit of a swampy smell in places. I reckon this will be a great place to ride in the spring / early season but really,
today.....this late in the season, not so good. It appears that the entire lake bed is covered with wild grasses which is fine. Trouble is, said
grasses are knee to mid thigh high and pretty good and thick. It'd be riding blind.
There is an access point on the easternmost edge of the lake which I'll go check out in the spring and report back. Since our winds are generally N/NW
it might prove good. It's about 35km past the Cooking Lake Sailing Club - therefore roughly 30-40 minutes east of Edmonton.
Until further notice -
It was flat grassy plain for as far as the ye could see....here's hopin' it turns out to be a happy place on
the eastern edge. Until then I'll be here with my now swampy smelling dog.......

while you were surveying we had a little wind here. at the end i had the 12m Pulse 2 up against Kevyn and his 7m Blurr. haul'n a$$, i was with a
throttle:shocked2: the rain got close but the wind picked up hard. couldn't let it go to waste. we packed everything up 'cept the 3m Beamer III and
did a few scream'n laps until rain hit hard.

Pakowki Lake down here in the south sounds similar to Beaverhill. Your recon mission was probably not for nought. Since these marshy (slough) lakes
are shallow they freeze fast - there can be some great ice in a hurry at these spots offering great early winter ice sessons. Years ago before being
wind obsessed I did some very nice skating in November at Big Lake, just north of Edmonton in the mid 80's. www.bless.ab.ca/ Another marshy spot - useless in summer (for kiting) , but fantastic in the winter... .
One of the best Lakes (reservoirs) close to Medicine Hat is dreadful in the summer, but a dream in the winter, Murray Lake, near Seven Persons.
