Lodi sod farm

gtsorbet - 15-8-2008 at 01:30 PM

Yesterday was my first time meeting up with others to fly. I met up with Screwyfits and Dakitez. They both were a huge help and I learned quite a bit...even how to put my kite away. I got my first try at a buggy, I am totally hooked. However, I did get Dakitez to walk a solid 300yds to explain to me how to get back upwind. They had quite a few kites they have been wanting to try out but I stuck to the two I have. Below are a few pictures my girlfriend took of us...here is the link if the pictures are too small to see here: http://bradtorbeck.smugmug.com/gallery/5711609_gaDXo/1/35242...

Hey GT,

Geez, I keep hoping that my company sends me to our facility near Sac-town. Would love to come out there and kite with you guys...what a place!

Good pics....bet it's nice to have a girlfriend that wants to come along and will take pics...my wife just loves to shop :o

BTW, is that you in the red...nice jump!

Yeah, it is this sod place out in the middle of nowhere with really consistent wind.

My girlfriend didn't come along for photography reasons, rather out of bordom she began to start shooting with my camera after she finished walking a few laps around the field.

The guy in the red is Screwyfits, I would be the guy in the yellow on the buggy.

Dude getting Dakitez to walk 300ft. My hat is off to you.:D Lucky you! There could not have been a better first time get together than with these guys. When we go it is always well mixed up. Meaning lots of kites, jumping, buggying, yelling screamming all in all good time glad to hear you had fun!

Great photos gtsorbet,:singing:

It was great to have you out there, you and your girlfriend were a pleasure to meet... and it was a thrill to watch you progress so fast... from what I remember this was your 3rd or 4th time flying and you where man handling that 4.5 Legend, 1st time on a buggy and was able to pull your self that 300 yards that DAKITEZ had to walk and you made it back half way if I'm not mistaken...:D

To put the cherry on top you had your head lights on so we could fly the new REV that DAKITEZ had after the sun went down... :cool2: This farm is always a great time...

Hope to see you back...

Hey Rip, you see the top photo... that's the Firewall... you ever make it down you'll have as much kiting as you can handle...
Yeah, I've been wanting to start something for us NOR-CAL Kite enthusiasts but I don't think I could do it alone...

Screwyfits-

Thanks for the nice words! I really had a good time and learned a ton.

I am headed to Kauai on Friday and cannot wait to try my kites there. Unfortunately I only have a backpacking backpack I can pack everything in I am going to need for 10 days on the beach and 2 days backpacking the Napali Coast. So I can only squeeze in my HQ symphony and the Legend 4.5. I am working on getting my other brother to pack the Ace 6m in his bag, still not going for it.

I was going to try kiteboarding while I was out there but it would cost me around $400 for a 5 hour lesson. After trying out both buggies, I think for only a little bit more than that lesson I can buy a buggy and use it all the time!

I am packed and ready if any of you guys wanna meet up anywhere, just give me a call or send me a U2U!
