Long story short- I landboarded in front of park rangers all day and they waved hello to me and busted the man walking his dog off leash.
When I arrived for the Pismo kite expo i saw these two neon signs that that were attached at one of the beach entrances where the expo was taking
place. On the top it said KITESURFERS. I read it anyways, because i had heard last year that the park rangers were putting new limitations on wind
powered vehicles at the beach. One of the new rules was that no wind powered land vehicles were allowed on pismo beach or oceano dunes from mar 1-
sep 1. That is the entire 3 mile beach. This is due to plover breeding i guess? Anyways i asked the organizer of the fest. and he said no buggies
or landboards. I nearly freaked! It is one of the best spots in the country! I called the park service, and they never called back.
I figured, catch me if you can...I didn't have any hassles the whole weekend. However, i don't want to mess up an ecosystem. There are other
threads in the forum regarding pismo, but what the new rules may be and what my experience was didn't jive. I'm not sure what the real answer is to
this question. Does anyone have any more info?? I don't want to give that place up in the summertime

Was up there on Sun and heard the same thing. No buggying or landboarding on the beach. Only static flying. Talked to a local who confirmed.
Unfortunately, I can't confirm the Mar1 - Sep1 time frame but when I talked to the local, I got the impression that it was indefinite. I heard there
were some kiters that made the rangers nervous by almost running into some people, not the snowy plover, but again, just heresay.
Ended up going to Morro Bay and getting 5-10mph all day and sideshore : (. Oh well, had some ok downwinders and it was low 70's so decided to make the
best of it.

Thanks for sharing info, guys. Man! that sucks. One of my best buggy sessions was at Pismo beach and I was thinking about visiting there again this
year for buggy/landboarding but now I have to cancel my plan.
I just came back from OBX for kiteboarding session and one of spots was closed to kiteboarding.
Like many kiteboarders, buggiers and landboarders, I always try to preserve nature by picking up my trash (or even someone else's broken bottle) and
respect beach-goers. I am not sure what we did wrong to deserve this.....

Ok I cancelled my rv spot in Pismo, because I heard the same thing about the rangers were nervous about the kite lines cutting parts off people.
Is there any beach in California that allows kite buggying and has a place to camp for a while? It is still cold and wet in the Northwest and I don't
want to go back yet.

Dillons Beach is North of San Francisco is a pretty nice flat beach. Typically it has an onshore wind and during low tides there is quite a bit of
hard pack to buggy/landboard on. As far as camping, there is a private campground next door called Lawson's Landing. At Lawson's it's essentially a
large cow pasture with a sand dune that people like to ATV on. There are no hookups at the campground and you may wake up with a cow in your spot.
There are lots of places to camp and people love this place.
Up the road is Bodega Bay and Doran Campground. Fun place to camp but the wind typically blows your kite over the ocean. So unless you kite is a
LEI, it may get wet if you crash. At Bodega Bay is a place called Candy and Kites. They are a Ozone reseller and have pretty good stock. David Love
is a cool guy to talk to.
Salmon Creek is about 5 miles north on Highway 1 up from Bodega Bay. This is a fun place to scud and typically where I take the kids when we camp at
Doran. We have had all 5 of us powered up at once with room to spare.

Thank you for the information on CA beaches. We are heading back to Vegas tommorrow and stay in the area until the 8th. Then maybe I can get to the CA
coast.

You can also stay in the montery area and ride with kyte slinger. I stayed at marina dunes rv park in Marina. Its about 5 minutes from slingers spot.
Also another spot I saw but didn't get a chance to ride is Moss landing. Ther is a koa there also and a few good resturants within walking distance.
In moss landing there was about 5-6miles of people free beach with lots of riding area on low tide.
Also if you want a place to camp out for awhile your more than welcome to park at my house. I have alittle over an acre. easy access in and out and I
can set you up with full hook ups.

we have similiar rules in HHI more of a beach goer density problem. but you can fly after 5:00 pm some of the private areas are not populated at
all so it is not really a problem. the big problem is when a tourist puts up a rig in the public areas that are too crowded and create unsafe
conditions. the real solution is you just have to walk to the sweet spots. hiking gear a mile or two is what it requires to get nice spot. Access
to "park and get out and fly" is limited. respect to all areas keeps us all flying,

uld hit Ivanpah dry lake. it is amazing. Windpowered vehicles only. It is in primm nevada. check out the nabx forum.

Did anyone else read the sign i saw? I appreciate everyones experience but nothing is confirmed. Like I said the rangers were not concerned with me
at all, and that was on a weekend. I know that recently that the ca park and oceano dunes park combined offices and resources. Maybe that is why
there was confusion amongst the rangers.

i know the plover season is over, so i'm going in a couple weeks. During the off season midweek there is nobody there. i doubt there will be a

Moss landing huh? I have heard of it but never checked it out. Something to do. I hope things work out for you guys at pismo. Places to fly always
seem to be a problem for me also. I feel for ya.
