HQ Fire On Ice - Snow Kite School DVD

Has anyone watched this DVD? If so, did you think it was well done, helpful, or worthwhile? Are there any better instructional DVD's out there for snow kiting? The only HQ video I saw is the cheesy one that came with my Beamer so I don't think I'll bother with it unless someone gives it an endorsement.

Does it cover skills such as going up wind? I've been static flying for a few months and am just getting into flying with skis which is an very different experience.

I'd rather spend my $ on one of the cooler videos like "Cloud 9" or "Something Stronger" but figure something like this might be more sensible if it's well done.

I got the free one from Best and it was worth what I paid for it.

The HQ videos are well done with no dialog but language specific subtitles. I'll have to say though that they cover only the very basics. There is a fair amount of file footage with good kiting scenes that are more entertainment than educational.

Whether the buggy, ATB, or snowkite video, they cover basic set-ups, safety and movement. The buggy video covers basic stopping and jibes and stops there. The ATB video does not cover transitions, turns. The snowkite video has the basics but no upwind work.

These videos are labled as if they are "chapter 1", and I think HQ would serve the market well by producing more advanced valumes, even if just intermediate.
More than you asked, but I thought worth noting while you brought it up.

You might find more information in the book "Ultimate Book of Power Kiting " by Jeremy Boyce. It has sections on variuos aspects of kiting including skiing .

just go to youtube or Ozone's site or Flexis and watch the videos there. If you can fly a kite and you can ski / board than you can definately kite ski / board.

Its not that hard and, IMO, one of the easiest forms of traction kiting (but I do consider myself to have been expert skier and a decent kiter before I put the two together).

Yeah, I opted against this DVD. Didn't seem worth it.

I can fly a kite, but I'm far from an expert skier. I XC ski a lot so that helps some I suppose, but until this winter I hadn't put on downhill skis in 10 years. And I was never much good.

Snowkiting does seem like one of easiest kite sports. Using a kite as an engine rather than just static flying does take some getting used to though. Hopefully I'll get some mad skillz before the snow melts and I have to get out with an ATB and tear my knees up.
