I just looked at the weather for Yellowknife Canada and noticed you go about 6 months without getting above freezing! Is that how it really works out

Ahh, but in the spring time you can kite 24 / 7 since the sun never sets :o
Actaully Yellowknifes average temp is = to most places in Canada. It just happens to be night time for a couple of months. The long days of summer
make up for it.

who needs land when you got snow up there. i went on a one week trip for snowkiting in Yellowknife a few years back. its some of the best
cross-country snowkiting i've done. I went from one small camp to the next, and got to travel miles with kite and skiis.

Yellowknife is no where near the Arctic Ocean. It is on Great Slave Lake though. You could kite ski down the McKenzie River to TuS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-,
but it would be a long trip dodging trucks on the ice road, >700 miles as the crow flies.

Lots of people around here refer to anything you can ski or board on as a frozen ocean. Great Slave Lake ain't no fish pond.

For me it is hard to imagine open terrain like that with no trees. All my open area I can kite in here have trees at some distance away. Some have a
small effect and others ruin the site for flying. I have to pick my site based on wind direction to avoid tree shadow.
