Where do peeps fly around Chicago (AirHOG?- this one's for you
). I am
visiting my family out there in a few months and of course I'll sneak a couple of kites in the bag. I've only flown at the beach and the soccer
fields at Northwestern which are nice when it's off season. Where else is there?
(Last time I was out there I dreamed of urban buggying on the vacant lots where Stateway Gardens used to stand- probably not really a good idea, but
there was a ton of barren land
. I'm glad to see those projects go, even
with all of the controversy about where all of the displaced tenants go- I think that it is a good thing that Chicago is rethinking it public housing
model- hopefully they figure out a better way to provide housing for the thousands of people who rely on it.)

To tell the truth, i haven't really found any perfect sites for flying. I just moved back here this summer. I was born and raised downtown, but just
got into kiting a year or two ago. So I'm basically rediscovering the place from a kiters eye if you know what i mean.
Other than the beaches, and a few of the larger parks/forest preserves, i haven't really found anything. I haven't even seen anyone flying a foil
other than the kite surfers on montrose beach. Everyone seems to be into REV's over here.

hey guys i grew up downtown too. you have to find somewhere on the lake front first off. i never had any luck with it coming the other way. i think
the best place has to be the montrose exit off of LSD. there are six or eight soccer fields all in a row, huge. a big hill there too! watch out for
weekends though. many people like to play soccer... besides that, i've flown at the north avenue fields too. i haven't land boarded their yet but i
plan to bring my board home over thanksgiving. Also up by grant park.
