First real snow session in years!

Wind was lame. Snow was lame. But I got out and rode all afternoon, which was not lame at all! No video, the session wasn't impressive anyways.

One of those sessions that ends by trying to make it back to the truck as the wind dies... I didn't have to walk so I'm calling it a success

I even found my wind meter in my kiteskiing pants. Flying 7.5m HQ Apex 3 in about 10-20kph partly to see what I want in a new kite and partly because that's the most wind we've had here in a week or two. When the wind is low here, it's usually dead - around 10kph.

This is officially the bottom end of the rating for the 7.5m and sure enough the kite was painfully underpowered, requiring loops or dives to get moving on hard icy snow, and often I came to a stop and had to work the kite. Definitely thinking I don't want to add an 8m to my collection. I'll be looking at the 6m with an option to pick up a 10 or 12m to give me a kite for these low wind days.

Tomorrow is supposed to be 30 gusting 50kph, a very common Saskatchewan day where I would want to fly the 6m Explore. I'm thinking of taking the 5m Apex out if the gust factor is not too bad, but this is where I really want that better depower and re-ride safety.

I can already tell my legs are going to be sore tomorrow morning. Did I say I didn't know if I was going to get back into kiting? Yeah I'm definitely in! The hype is back!

Great to see that you are getting back into traction kites. Snow kiting is something I would love to try, but I don't really know how to ski, and live to far South to ever make it practical. (Heck we never even have any of our lakes freeze over.) Sounds like you are really glad you went out and wanting more. That's all that really matters!

Likewise I'd like to get down to the south to buggy! There is not much opportunity to buggy here between snow, mud, and crop. So I get almost all my flying in on the snow.

Thought I would be sore today but I'm feeling pretty good... except my feet! Jamming them into ski boots for the first time in years did them no favours. Between that and it being above zero and icy/slushy, I lost my excitement for going out again today. There's plenty of winter left, though!
