i'm seeing 799 as a pre-order price. other retailers are listing it for $1,299. that's a pretty steep bump.

It looks like the 4M is releasing first, but it also looks like there going to be a 3M, 5M, and 6M down the line. Wonder if the $1299 is for one of the larger ones. Otherwise, pricing could get ridiculous.

For instance, Action Sports (Australia) has it listed for $1299, but if you go down to the bottom of the screen and select the 4M, price drops to $799

I just want to know if anyone is going to pick up one of these line less kites and try it in the buggy? The space saving and being able to fly it in previously confined areas opens up a lot of riding possibilities.

I can totally see the attraction for skins, SUP foiling, and surf foiling - saw a video recently of someone riding a wave, then easily getting back to the next one using a wing and minimal pumping. And flotation out there is a nice benefit.

Has anyone tried a kiting in a bug? I would think it would be pretty tough, as you couldn't get the sail effect without dragging the wing. I'd think you have to be upright to be maneuverable.

Since most of the big companies are jumping on the bandwagon the one that makes sense to me right now is the duotone version with the window. I can only imagine the accidents that are going to happen if these things get popular and spots get crowded. The bar as opposed to the multiple handles also seems nicer, but adds one more step to setup and pack down I guess. Something to be said for being able to just pump and go. We all like that :D

One the wing makers at least, Naish, has said they don't recommend use of the wing on land for ATBs or skateboards because dragging the wing on the ground would be pretty tough on it.* Plus there are a lot of cheaper and better ways to go for landboarding. I would think the same thing applies to kitebuggying. Plus - the wings are typically around 4m (+_ a meter) so you wouldn't get a lot of power.

I've used NASA Stars and and some home-brew flex kites on short lines and they work well with my buggy. While I think the wings are pretty cool, I wouldn't buy one just for use with a buggy.







* The videos I've seen point out proper use of the wing keeps it elevated, however, it is almost inevitable that while learning it would end up hitting the surface whether water or ground.

BTW - despite everything I said above, if I ever get one of the wings for use on water, I'm pretty sure I'll try it with my buggy at least once......

I got an actual Kitewing IV8 years ago -- like, 12 years ago -- and dragging the tips on the ground wears them out too.

Given how much wind you need to make them work, I just don't get the attraction. I mean, you can go a tiny kite, tiny board and big wing foil and have much more fun.

There is a pond in my backyard that is in a geographic bowl. it is only accessible in the winter and private so it is ideal for kiting but the surface winds and winds above the tree line are always inconsistent so a kitewing has been of interest to me as it seems more ideal for these types of conditions. I think they can be useful too in real high wind conditions when kites can be punchy and twitchy. IMO, wings can dump you but are more predictable then some foils in punchy winds.

That and a lack of space for kite lines in like carparks and small parks is why I got mine. But you need so much wind, you may as well go to the beach.

I was just reviewing the pricing of the Wasp. How can they possibly charge $800 for a 4m? No bridle, no bar, no lines, much simpler construction than a foil, and the pump probably isn't included, etc. These things should be about $100 per square foot, max, IMO.

BTW the Ozone Uno is a LEI trainer that sells for about $500 (4m) w no lines or bar so the pricing on these wings does seems pretty high.
