Does anybody know if the 1.7m sting take to a bar?

i don't know about specific bridling differences, if any. going by the amazon pics of the 1.7 sting and 1.7 control, it LOOKS like they've just
gathered all of the brake lines together for the control model. A and B bridles seem very similar.
then again, i could be wrong. if i were in need of a 3 line sting, though, i'd certainly give the conversion a try. you have nothing to lose except a
little time.

Why even muck with the bridles?
The 1.7 Sting should fly on the HQ Four Line Safety Traction Control Bar
or
Peter Lynn 4-Line Power Kite Control Bar
The HQ has a nice push away safety, but you'd have to be in pretty heavy winds for that to be an issue.
The Peter Lynn has a trim strap for the brakes.
Both of them just Y-line the brake lines at the control bar using a pulley.

I am conerned about weight on the brake lines. It was an issue with small kites when I was playing with crossover bars. The pulley was enough weight
to mess things up. Never matched a bar to this small a kite.
I figured 3 line would add the least weight possible?

Not sure a quad line bar and crossover bar is an apples to apples comparison.
Among other things, I think the chicken loop and wrist strap are going to affect how much drag is applied to the brake lines differently.
Wouldn't cost anything to test out with an old-fashioned, non-crossover quadline bar (assuming you have one kicking around) before bridle surgery.

So this may be slightly off topic, but I'm wondering at what minimum wind speed that you would break out the Sting 1.7m to pull you in a buggy?
I recently acquired a 1.7m Sting for use as a storm kite because I felt overpowered with my trusty 1.8m Rage last fall in high winds on the Wah Wah
hardpan in Utah. At a minimum, I bruised my ribs as a consequence.
I flew the Sting 1.7m static today for the first time. It seemed to me that it's going to take above 15mph before it starts being viable for traction.

in this particular case, i think i'd just start trolling for a used hq rush pro 250. (2sqm) i've had a lot of fun with mine and have handed it off to
many kids without any problems to them or the kite. it's a very beginner-friendly setup.
there are similar kites from other makers that would also fill this need, of course.
i used to hand out a flexi buzz 2 liner as well. once i started seeing all of the wild arm movements from the kiddies i put it on a 2 line bar. by
limiting their arm movements that way they "got it" much more quickly.
since you already have a good kite for beginners, maybe you could just fashion a cheap pvc bar/lines for 4 lines and switch to handles as soon as
he's ready? that may not take as long as you think. i've been amazed at how soon my area kids pick this up with very little instruction.
i don't know that i'd even bother with a pulley setup. just leave the brake lines as slack as needed to fly well on the front lines. Bladerunner - 13-3-2019 at 01:01 PM

I want to pass on the Sting since my new LS2 should cover it and my 2.5m Profoil. The goal is to pass on my old gear.

I buggy with the 1.7m Sting in wind speeds 30mph and above. In the 20 range, I struggle to go upwind.
I have owned/flown:
1.0 Quatro
1.4 Flux
1.5 Soulfly
1.8 Rage
Those are all tuned for power to be able to ride in winds in the 20mph range. I was not impressed with them in higher winds.bigkid - 14-3-2019 at 06:19 AM
The PKD bar for the busters will work fine also. I've used it to fly the 1.5 up to the 4.4 busters.
With the wrist strap brake setup it is flown on the power lines only until you let go of the bar which pulls on the brakes only. The heavy brake lines
won't be an issue. You would be safe in winds of 6 to 10 with a newbie.
As for the wind speed for the 1.5, 15 to 25 mph. Anything over that, stupid. :o unless your in need of a medical checkup. Prussik - 14-3-2019 at 09:14 AM

The whole goal for me is to dumb the kite down but still have relaunch. ( 3rd line ) so a 5 year old can enjoy the learing curve.
It WILL be sent with handles and 4 lines for progression. I intend to make the 3rd line to add on. Not to mess with the factory bridle for easy
transfomation.

So I converted a two line kite to a 3 line and I converted a 2 line kite to a 4-line does that mean I smarted them up?
