Looks pretty clean. Closed wingtips... ;-)

Nice to see so much continued innovation in the SS space! Bring it on.

I can't help but think about the Ninox by Monjet when I read about the wingtips. Interesting solution to a perennial problem with SS kites.

https://monjetkiteboarding.com/products.html

The monjet kite still seems a long way off and I wonder if it will ever see the light of day as a production model. I suppose now they can rest easy with the knowledge that immitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Interesting too how they chose to size the P4s in the smaller sizes: 3, 4, and 5m! I see how they position these on their website directed at skiers vs snowboarders. My closest feel for this would be my former Born-Kite LS2 quiver. On Ivanpah there were distinct times when I wanted the 3.5m vs the 5.5m LS2, but I can't say I ever longed for a 4.5m LS2.

Super cool actually that they have made a 3.0m P4. On Ivanpah such a DP kite could take you right up to the edge of (and likely beyond) the "brown out" limit. Brown Out conditions, as I coined them at IBX 2017 (when the big event tent was destroyed) came into play when sustained winds got over 50 mph, simultaneously creating an "I'm gonna crap my pants" and an "I can't see crap" situation. Good times.

No Ed, the introduction of the P4s does not mean I'm selling my RaceStars. ;)

A possible replacement for my coveted but weary Peak1 6m?
I hope so.

eric67m - 15-11-2018 at 12:57 PM

I noticed at 0.48 in the video "solid bar feeling". I wonder what the bar pressure will be like?

When are they adding the 14-15M?

It's odd that several of the sizes use the same color scheme. It's usually nice to tell what size kite by the colors.

I like the concept of the filled wingtips and the potential of safer landings.

Gin Shaman has had mixed closed cell/SS since release. No idea if they were inspired by Monjet, or if it was just a natural progression after looking at the Peak flapping around. Last I saw, Monjet was just about to release their kite, then went into radio silence. I assume they needed a little more tweaking and they just ran out of funding...

Nice to see all this leapfrogging pushing development in interesting ways. I know foilers in particular would love these kites for 2 knot riding if they were better at water relaunch. As it is, the folks that do use SS on the water rarely have to water relaunch since they hang in the air in a baby's breath.

FS has been color coding by groups lately - so the small sizes are orange (3-4), med are blue (5-8), large lime (11). Same idea for the Soul.

Yes, the Gin Shaman kites, should have thought of those; much more relevant and actually in production. I know UtahTami is fond of those for snowkiting. I've never seen them in the flesh as she (quite wisely) never lets them kiss the harsh floor of the playa. Smart girl.

Bladerunner - 15-11-2018 at 04:17 PM

I can't seem to find prices on these.
Very interested in the 3m.

jeffnyc - 15-11-2018 at 04:53 PM

Down at the bottom, tab next to Technical data and wind range (agree, confusing, takes me a minute every time). I'm sure Feyd can get you one in the states :D (edit - oops - Vancouver! I swear I get you and windstruck confused every time! Not sure why - probably old age setting in)

PEAK4
Kite only
3m 459 euro
4m 519 euro
5m 599 euro
8m 699 euro
11m 849 euro

wldkrd1 - 15-11-2018 at 05:33 PM

Oof...that's a high price for not a lot of material, especially for the 3m.

Bladerunner - 15-11-2018 at 05:54 PM

Still don't see it on my phone.

How much is the 3m?
4m Shamon is 449 Euro.

K2 - looks as if they are listing the 3m for 459 EU

I can see how Bladerunner and I can get confused; in person Ken and I are like brothers! :D

This is true. I can barely tell them apart.

Nothing to worry about Mr Windstruck. I will not covet my neighbors Racestar..
I'm determined to get the most out of my current allotment. Glad that the pie just got bigger though.
Come spring I'll shop for a replacement for the P2/6m, I guess it'll be a P3/6m.
The P4/3m is also on my list, if the P3/4m gets to be too much kite at anytime this winter I'll have my excuse.

Monjet concept wouldn't seem that hard to build. Just add a longer wrap around LE to my g-kite, add some air inlets, baffles and some holes between the ribs.......hmmmm. May have just been a fluke, but when I used my g-kite on the water, it sort of floated anyway. My NPW's always seemed to sink.

I had my taste buds all set for a Viron 2DLX as a high wind Flysurfer, wondering how soon we'll see this new Peak on Hardwater, Shopping, Snowkites, Flysurfer ?
