Squam Lake NH kite skiing-Single skin day

Headed to Squam Lake in NH. Driving around looking for access point was failing us until we ran into an old friend who's a great Kite Winger who live up in the area. He led us to the right public access spot where other kite wingers also showed up.

Got out on the frozen bumpy patchy lake. Checkered with flat ice, ice mounds:o.... and thin snow pockets. Terrible surface...actually, more so if you're using dull edged skis! Sharp skis a must for this.

Winds were terrible inconsistent in cove we were at..elsewhere maybe better but we never ventured way out. Winds were mostly low but then occasionally gust to 20+ ish. What's a FB kiter to use? Put away foils and got more manageable short lined NPWs. Started with 6.5m and winds picked up:thumbup:.. overpowered a bit but rode it for a while until fly lined popped off or connecter snapped(?)..... so then pulled out my 3.5 m which was a bit less than fully powered but still good.

Despite surface it was still a fairly fun afternoon.

Don used his Peak 1 6m and 9m. Earlier.... even his Peak was falling out of sky from very low wind lulls.

I handed him my NPW at one point to use :

Nice pics and video Tuck! Glad you got some even if the conditions weren't ideal.

I always like seeing people getting out and enjoying the wind even if it's not ideal winds:D. Chris Krug often posts photos that include the surrounding landscape of NH. I can see why the winds are always janky. I deal with inland winds also but we are blessed with relatively flat lands. Our winds are probably very smooth in comparison.
