Wetsuit for cold weather

SecondWind - 2-12-2007 at 12:56 PM

The ice will be melting here soon...

So, what kind of wetsuit do I need to get in the water? Any help would be great.

Brian,

Same site also - or did you find a better deal.

What temp is the suit good for? And, did you order gloves & booties?

Same site. I called them and they said those are 2006 models but they don't have my size any more. So I ordered 2007 model. Just $10 difference. Not sure about temp. I figured I would wear it right before summer so I didn't pay that much attention. Just a suit, no gloves nor booties. - Brian

What's the scoop on Semidry? Keeps you kind of dry??

I've read that the Glacier Glove (Hypalon Perfect Curve, ~$40) is perfect for kiting.

I think it means water gets in and warmed up by your body temperature.

Can you send me the link for those gloves? - Brian

Yes. You would wear fleece or some other performace wear. You could even wear a tuxedo and look like James Bond when you pull up to the beach. There are seals around the neck, wrists and ankles to keep the water out. Though in a big crash you might get some sepage.

I just bought a Mystic Razor 5/3 and I love it. It hardly feels like you are wearing a regular wetsuit at all. It is very stretchy and very light. It weighs less then a standard 4/3. I was ready to buy a Rip Tide Ebomb 4/3 but the fit on Mystic was a lot better (at least for my body type). The suit is also cut in a way that offers easier movement specific to kite boarding. Kept me nice and toasty last Sunday:thumbup:

wjb - where did you buy your Mystic from? I've heard good things about the Mystic Steamer

The model I bought (Razor) is not on thier site yet. But you can see the Steamer. Also Evan is a great guy to deal with.

Thanks wjb - the ice is starting to melt here and I'm ready to get in the water:smilegrin:

Any hood or bootie recomendations?

wjb - 2-22-2007 at 06:09 PM

I don't have any experience with either. I would buy local so you can try them on and get what fits best.
