We are taking a nice winter break from cold snowy New England and heading to Toronto for about a week. We will be in down town Toronto near the theater district. On the corner of Church and Adelaide. Any one have any good ideas of things to do there? We do have plans for one day with some friends.

Hi Dave

Should be a nice trip - it was very mild and no snow up until a couple of days ago but temperatures have dropped the last few days and will be cold into this weekend especially with wind chill but not really any snow in the forecast (especially for Toronto) and might be a little warmer by monday. I won't be going into Toronto this week (I'm about 1.25 hrs away westward from T.O. on a good day but through the week that's more like 2.25+ hrs with average traffic). And you'll be in an area just a few blocks away from where my sister lives - you'll likely walk right by her place a few times as she's beside the market and a block from the theatre area.

I think the yearly winter blahs get together/dinner with the Toronto Kite Fliers club is planned for late January but I'll ask if anyone else is around.

I will try and put together a list of things for you - are getting around by subway or doing some driving?
Have you been before?

Mark

Hey Mark. We are taking the train up. So we are either walking or using public transit. We have plans for one day to go to a show. If you get a chance you should check it out. It is called "The Heart Of Robin Hood" Friends of ours are in it doing all the music and singing. This is why we are going. The rest of the time we plan to check out the area and hope to attend a rehearsal. The band Parsonsfield is who we are friends with. And they hope to get us into the rehearsal. It would be nice to meet other kiters too. I have not done much kiting as my health has been going down hill for the last two years. But I hope to be back soon.

Sounds like a good time Dave. I know Howard was aware of the trip and is going to try and arrange some things as well for you. I'll put together a list of things over the next couple of days. Here are a few to start:

- ** distillery district - a great area to wander around http://www.thedistillerydistrict.com
- the new Ripley's Aquarium nestled between the CN Tower and Sky Dome. Haven't been but heard friends really enjoyed it http://www.ripleyaquariums.com/canada/
- AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) currently running a small collection of Michelangelo sketches and related work http://www.ago.net
- the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) http://www.rom.on.ca/en
- In that downtown core area close to where you'll be anywhere along Front Street, up Yonge St around the Eaton Centre, up to Yorkville, over to Queen St, down to Harbourfront

Just heard from Howard today. He says the whole family is looking forward to seeing us. Gluttons for punishment I suppose!! I enjoyed spending time with all of them last year so this should be good. To bad you won't be around too.
I was just thinking (I know!!) You spend time in Europe right? In May and June we are heading back over there for a month or so. We are reinvading Iceland for 7 days, then to Norway for 6 days, then Sweden 7days, then back to Iceland for 7 more days. We may have to discuss this trip as well!!

Mark it was a great trip. We arrived at 9pm on the train and walking out onto front street was a shock. I had no idea the city was so tall! I looked straight up and all I saw was glass and lights. But we bundled up and had 3 days of walking around the city taking in great historical sites. Saw our friends at the theater in "The Heart of Robin Hood" Great family show if you get he chance to see it. Also met up with some guy from near there. Howard and his wife Ines were a pleasure to hang out with. To bad we could meet up. Maybe in the spring.

Actually, I think it was Dave and Sandy that were the pleasure to hang out with. Dave definitely leaves his better half at home when he comes to Wildwood:-)
We managed a couple of evenings of non-stop talking, and it didn't seem enough. Thanks for sharing your visit with us.
