I was walking the dogs this morning down by the new hotel
that's being built when a jogger stopped to say that I might want to give the log up ahead a wide berth. Turns out that it was a 3 1/2' alligator!
Make a hell of a thump if you ran over it.
It wandered back into the ocean. Gives you something to think about as we cavort in the surf...PHREERIDER - 8-5-2014 at 06:54 AM
common for the area , its breeding season and can get amped easily.
we had a 7' breeding pair on our drive way couple years back when it was drier.
they love hot concrete/ and rocks /sand banks and once hot they are ready for action!
stay away! if theres standing pond a nest can't be far,
and in the surf is not as common but generally taking a "skin treatment " bath ....cool man u are in the right spot !
today and tomorrow should be bangin' good wind skimtwashington - 9-5-2014 at 12:54 AM

Alligators don't live in Maine...nor the ocean....Kamikuza - 9-5-2014 at 02:13 AM
All the dead animals that wash up on our beach, I would be only a little surprised if one was an alligator.
Props to the jogger... thoughtful people seem to be a rarity!acampbell - 9-5-2014 at 03:31 AM

He's on Jekyll island in Georgia in preparation for JIBE. We have gators here. Just not common on the beach. What Phreerider said. TEDWESLEY - 9-5-2014 at 07:50 AM
Should probably have mentioned that I'm at Jekyll. Don't be looking for them at Pine Point, the stuff that the horses leave behind is a lot more of a
problem there. It turns out that the alligators show up on the beach on a regular basis, mostly at night according to the Dept. of Natural Resources
guys that we spoke with. They had a crew on site after they got reports. There were at least three juveniles trying to come ashore to rest and warm
up. One showed up at kite beach for a while. These were small and posed no threat to anything, just a reminder that we share the beach. So, as we
careen along the beach keep an eye open for that out of place log, it might be mobile. BeamerBob - 9-5-2014 at 08:05 AM
Jekyll Island also is deep in the south where manners and a desire to get along with others are rampant, along with little resistance to talk to
strangers. I've never seen a gator on the beach there though! 3shot - 9-5-2014 at 09:58 AM
Oh boy I can see it now. "Hey honey, while I'm down at kite beach and you are sunning in front of the cottage to the north, please keep the kids away
from the gators!" Lmaomarkite - 9-5-2014 at 10:57 AM
They have probably been disturbed by some unexplained deep water seismic activity. Combined with a mix of atomic testing and radiation and chemical
leaks these babies must be coming to shore as a prelude to the new Godzilla movie coming out next week - beware the Jekyllator!bigkid - 9-5-2014 at 11:08 AM
What about the shark tornado movie? Mightbe a new alligator tornado flick coming out.
Mark you crack me up. Have you 2 decided yet?bigkid - 9-5-2014 at 11:19 AM
Thanks Ted, you got my brain working overtime on this post. To many one liners to post and people are looking at my funny while I laugh at all my
thoughts about this.
I do like the Jekyllator alot.
might even be an early arrival for the movie auditions being filmed up the beach.markite - 9-5-2014 at 12:23 PM
Sorry, what's that, I can't hear you over the vacuum ...
... we really need two houses just for kite gear
Your answer, or hers?
Lets see, winter in Canada and summer in UK. With the Eastern US in the spring and fall. Sounds doable to me.:saint:3shot - 15-5-2014 at 10:47 AM
Hey Ted, I found your gator while walking down to the cottage boardwalk a little while ago. He was at the bottom of the stairs LOL. I zoomed in as
best as I could without getting close...
Young juvenile but still......:o
