FS use to provide a very similar "short leash" with the Pulse 2. I thought it was kind of a pain. All my kites are 5th line safety systems and I
like to have the leash hooked to the 5th before launching. With a short leash that was darn near impossible unless you lay on the ground beside your
kite stake. It was neat and tidy but the longer leashes are way easier to affix to your safety / chicken loop, whatever while the kite is still on
the ground.
