Ocean Rodeo Origin - new board from them!

142x47, free-ride board.
55mm G10 fins (different design and construction to the Mako fins), shaped kinda like the Flyboard ones.
Foot-straps are similar to the previous OR design, but the pads are new; square-ish shape, quite thick with a very grippy texture and material on the top. Good solid feel underfoot.
The handle is a new style too; 2 of the nylon feet like those that secure the foot-straps, and a thick but flexible strap between them - reckon you could board-off and put your foot in there easy.
3/16th screws all around.
3 stance width options.
Construction is wood core; no fancy cut-outs or 3D shaping but the thickness of the middle thins out to the tips, making them flexible. Reminds me of my Flydoor v3.
Decks are a matte finish, like the 2013/14 boards I've seen from Naish and Aboards - should be pretty tough.
ABS rails basic and square, look tough.
The website says 33cm wide at the tips but it's more like 36 if you measure across the tips before the rails turns in to the ends.
Gentle curve on the rails; holds a gentle curve in the center then increases to the tips, like 2 different radiuses.
Not much rocker; apparently, it's a blended 3 stage but it looks about the same as my Flyradical v3 board - good
No concave it seems.
Medium flex? On the soft side of medium, perhaps.
All foot-pads, -straps, fins and the strap on brings the weight to 4.6kg.

Looks like it'll be a good, solid, all-rounder board. Decided I wanted a door-styled board - but smaller, without being too small :D Wide, flat, not too much curve on the rail, good wide tips, not too hard or soft. Bloody good price too, which counts for a lot!!!

Now I just need some wind . . . then I can review how it rides.

Have ridden it with all my LEI kites - 17 down to 7, from underpowered to OHH MY GOD.

Gets up and planes quickly at the bottom end but lets me ride right out to the limit of the kite - doesn't get that runaway train feeling that the Doors can when they're overpowered. My Flydoor and my Dialer have about the same bottom end and when I can head upwind easily on either of them, I can get onto the Origin and hold ground easily... a good overlap. I think it'll be a good board to travel with to good wind destinations... I'll always take a door to Thailand though :D

Chop... what chop? :D Very smooth through all kinds of rough water, lake and ocean. Almost no spray in my face or on my legs...

Pop isn't bad, considering it's a soft, easy riding board. I can load 'n' pop high enough to hurt my knees on landing so it jumps wonderfully - good speed in a straight line, edges well then pops real nice... Whahahahaha!

Landings are fine, no complaints.

Carves ok. You can play in the waves but there are better boards if you're a dedicated TT wave-slasher - like the Mako. Heel-to-toe carves are fine.

Straps 'n pads were a bit weird to begin with but I'm totally used to them now. Very comfy underfoot though. I have US 13 sized feet and the pads fit fine... wouldn't want to have much bigger feet though. The soft handle is a bit useless too...

Construction is good. Tough enough - the typhoons we've had this month have dragged a lot of wood over the lake... I've hit a few but the board's held up well; none to very slight cosmetic damage.

Bascially, as an all-around board it's excellent value!
