What size board would be good for a 120lb newb?
I'd like to start before the local lake turns to slime so I was thinking of picking up a cheap wakeboard on my local classifieds. What size should I
look for? Rocker?

For flat shallow lakes, wakeskate would be best.
Make your own; piece of marine or baltic birch plywood, 1/4" or 3/8"
For your weight say start with 150cm x 46cm, seal it with 3 or 4 coats of polyurethane clear coat.
no rocker needed, no fins needed either.
Stick on nice two pieces of EVA foam squares (where your feet will be) and you are ready.
FYI, pictured board (165x50) was made for less than $200 (everything !)
Mako King beside it $899 retail

Don't I need footstraps? I'm planning on jumping Bladerunner - 30-5-2013 at 06:45 AM
Nice looking Plydoor mdp
Snake if you look close you can see he has made foot straps. EVA foam and I suspect inner tube straps ?
There is a ton of info on making your own board and many on here who have done it.
Be VERY careful jumping in real shallow water. I have seen somebody jam their board into the sand below and blow their ACL. mdpminc - 1-6-2013 at 01:56 PM
