I decided against using the first line mount that I put up. People said it wouldn't work, and I'm not sure I trust it with my camera.. So I decided to
make another one made from PVC pipe (PVC idea nicked from Carl's creations!)
Here's how it looks:
And mounted on the lines:
This (crude but effective) thingy attached onto the kite line and stops the camera slipping down:
All of the joints on the mount are fixed with just one bolt, this meant that they pivot. This is an intentional thing, as I wanted the mount to be
able move with the lines, and not cause any unintentional pull/ distortion on the lines that would effect the kites handling.
My idea is that with different size / set ups of kites I can simply drill more holes along the main PVC pipes, and attach the end pieced at different
points, allowing it to work on multiple kits.
All in it cost me about £12. It could have been less but I got some spare pipe just in case.
I'm really chuffed with it. The kite feels a little heavier when launching (Similar to when there's a bit of sand inside) but once its in the air you
don't even notice its there!
As promised here is a video! It may not be very interesting, but the scenery is nice! (Psst, go onto youtube and watch it in 720p ! )
Thanks for your advice RE MK1!

I'm not sure why the images haven't worked, I have to go out now, I'll sort them in a bit!

Remove the stuff after .jpg that start ?t= and leave the [/img]
That far up the lines... why didn't you make something to go on the kite itself?elfasa - 5-5-2013 at 04:26 AM
Cheers Kami (was a bit rushed this morning).
Well, I did't put it that high up the lines for a particular reason. In future ill probably mount it further down.

I watched a little and then jumped to the end.
Everyone love a crash!
Good landing...darn.elfasa - 6-5-2013 at 05:02 AM
Thanks.
jeepersjoey, there was a little crash in the middle, when the wind lulled right when the kite was at the edge of the window, nothing too exciting
though :/
