Maybe a pretty basic question..........but what are some good kiting helmets, and features?
As a long time ATV/Dirtbike rider, I've got several full faced helmets both open/goggles and flip down face shield.
I'm wanting my first kiting helmet now, and am thinking of something more light-weight and not as hot/heavy for simple static flying, full helmet for
sure when I start ATB or Buggy piloting down the road.
From a motorcycle store, they have these two that seem to fit the bill............any suggestions? I like the ear flaps and visor on this one at $45

Any other cheap half-helmet suggestions, key features, sources?

I got an IV2 hybrid. Like street bike combined with mx style, and it is a killer helmet at a phenomenal price. Flip down face shield. I love not
having to deal with goggles and the weight isn't bad I think I paid $59 on e-bay and I'd have paid 3 times that for it.

Any model Protec is good IMHO.
Hard to beat the classic model Protec for the money. Lots of vents, very light weight, wide open face, and open ears. I like the 100% peripheral
vision and 100% free range of motion the most. I static fly a ton, and it's a great helmet. The new Ace looks pretty sweet too.
I used Protec 20 years ago riding skateboards, and now have one for da buggy

2nd the bern. My motorcycle helmet gets way too hot,and the bern is very versatile. It has already saved my noggin several times. It's more solid
than a bicycle helmet, but not as heavy as a motocross helmet. And it's the first helmet that doesn't look like crap on me.

I wear a snowboard RED. It's my second the first one save my live... hit by backrest back of head... helmet cracked.
Looking for a summer helmet... POC!
Or Protec or get a look there: hang glider gear

I currently wear the same helmet that I use on my bike when I am kiteboarding. It's definitely not like the smooth helmets ATB riders use, but for me,
there's a lot of extra ventilation that's helpful in hotter conditions. And I think it looks a bit cooler, too. :P
Don't know if there's a relative safety disadvantage when kiting, though.

Bern, protec, and TSG are all great helmets. They are going to be less costly than an expensive skiing helmet, however most of them are not full face
helmets. I hit my head in 2011 wearing my old Protec helmet and it saved me a trip to the hospital. I feel confident in their products
