3Qs: Hand brake landing, Sticky safety, and Luffing Sami.

Basicly at the bottom of the sine wave movement, just as the kite is turning back up the bottom end will luff, fold up, and cause the kit to loose the majority of its power. Its only started to do this recently. I've tried fiddling/ trimming with the brakes no end, but cant seem to sort it. I checked the bridles, and line lengths and they're all okay as far as I can tell. There was a little bit of sand inside the kite, but I really don't think it would be enough to cause the problem ! Any ideas on what to check next ?? Thanks Tim

#1-how much 'pull' is the kite putting on the safety when you are testing the safety release?
i don't have Oz's new CL/system but i have others and they may not release instantaneously-fraction of a milli- second (maybe they really should) under a minimal load. when the kite is well powered the safety sure will pop no problem.
#2-handbrake strap...your right about that the strap. it cups the trailing edge (the bar looks lke it does the same but it moves the draft point further aft...close enough net effect to a point).
are you pulling the brake strap quite extremely (as far as you can) back or just enough to add some power then you say WTF and stop pulling it?
for landing pull it back as far as you can. way further than what you would to reverse launch for instance.
#3-hard to tell from description but maybe you are putting too much input and too quickly..stalling the sail. pulling too hard too fast and too much for the current wind condition(s).
i don't know.

very good advice because this is how you will handle most other depowers that do not have Ozone's 'brake/landing' strap. might as well get used to it and again as Dakitez stated you will be in control of the kite as it comes down.

The kite was a little underpowered when I was trying it out. I'll double check and make sure everything is clean, and try again when there is a bit more wind.

And I'm not sure how hard I pulled on the strap, I think like you say rev, I pulled it, then backed off pretty quickly cause felt more power. I'll give it some next time

To confirm, is the hand brake strap (or just puling on the lines) the standard way to land a depower then ?

No...like Dakitez said...
you grab the outside (of the bar) lines about as high up as you can and pull back far enough to get the kite movind backwards (stalling in a controlled manner). since you have both a left and right line under your controll you can steer the kite left or right on it's way down.
i believe (i haven't looked in quite sometime) Ozone is still the only foil depower that uses a strap/line accross the brake(trailing edge) lines.
i know on my Ozone there is a loop (or something that resembles a small handle) in the middle of said strap/brake line. i use that (loop) to stake the kite.
