Software Upgrade

As promised, I will attempt to upgrade the forum's software as early as tomorrow afternoon. It may happen quite spontaneously with little notice but should only take a few minutes. Initially, many forum mods will be missing. Bear with... it will take a few days to reinstall them. Additionally, some no-longer-supported features will be permanently lost such as the photo gallery. Advantages: multiple image uploads per post plus many security enhancements. See you this time tomorrow if all goes well. If there is a hick, don't panic. It will all get sorted out. :yes:

The initial upgrade is complete but as a result, many of the mods were overwritten. I will reinstall these over the next few days/weeks. Until then, expect a few missing norms like avatars and youtube movies. I'll get to all of them as soon as possible. Hopefully this upgrade will take care of some of the old bugs. If you find new ones, pls send a U2U to PKF. Enjoy!

Well, I guess I was wrong about the rss. It did not come with the upgrade and I don't find a mod for that. I once wrote a single table db feed script for the nabx site, but doing so for a forum db is beyond my skill range. I also looked into tapatalk but our forum's software is not supported by that app. I'll look for an alternative, but at this moment I have nothing to offer.

One thing about the new upgrade, the forum appears to be running at ludicrous speed!! Thanks for the update, it was very due.

The system upgrade plus all the basic mods have been installed. Please let me know if you find any problems. YouTube and avatar uploads are working. A rss feed is not available - sorry.

This software does not have a lot of bells and whistles, but it is safe, simple and fast.

If anyone has ideas regarding the future of the power kite forum, you may send a U2U to PKF. I may not respond to each but I will consider all.

Also, if you would like to have a kite-related background image, send example URLs via U2U to PKF.

A tile-able background image such as the desert floor image found on the nabx forum: http://www.powerkiteforum.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=17

Images should be small and tile-able. Illustrations work better than photographs.

Please do not post them here. Instead upload them to photobucket or your personal webspace then send me the link via U2U.

All images will be considered.

Of course, no background image means faster page loading.

This is all foreign talk to me. But I really like how fast it goes now. Thanks for the upgrades. And what are the talking about being newbies again? My stats are still the same.

For awhile, we all had one star with a newbie label. It was back to normal as things settled out on the upgrade.

Just noticed my avatar was gone for some reason and when putting it back noticed they can be much larger file size than before. Lots of nice touches with the upgrade.
