After waiting around for the most of March and more than half of April for freezing Northerlies and Easterlies to stop blowing the wind has finally
swung around and the kitesurf season is finally underway
I started learning so late in the season last year that it ended just as I was getting up and riding consistently!
Had a great flat water session on Friday after work. Super clean 22 knots lit up the 10m Park and I was working on perfecting my upwind stance and
attempting sliding turns. Just starting to feel the turns - you can do them way more powered up than I thought! I still misjudge them 80% of the time
though - i lose too much speed and sink!
Sundays session was a lot more challenging in waist to chest high surf!! I was visiting a friend and there are no flat water spots where he lives.
18kts cross-shore so I was still flying the 10.
Heading out was a nightmare! I would either smack into the waves like kiting into a wall or get launched into the air off the top of them! - I'm not
quite ready to learn to jump!! I only dropped the kite twice though - despite all the chaos! Really loving the Parks.
Riding back in was easier. I got a couple of good wave rides but found it impossible to stay upwind. I was ending up way down the beach on my onshore
tacks.
Really enjoying learning to kitesurf - there is so much to learn though!!

Learn to load'n'pop before you trying sending the kite, you'll jump higher sooner that way.
Just keep getting out there, watching videos when you can't and don't be afraid to try stuff
