Flexi Sabre Mk1 info

elfasa - 17-4-2013 at 12:45 PM

Hey guys,

Friend is wondering about the Flexifoil sabre Mk1 (11.5m) can you give me some info it ?

Particularly noting safety features etc. But general info, flying characteristics etc etc. Any and all info is appreciated.

Also what is a fair price for one ? The one for sale is pretty cheap, but describes as:

"I have replaced the lines that go over the pullies and one set of pullies.
The kite flies really well still.

I did pop a sell on it a couple of years ago, but got this proffesionaly repaired by someone recommended to me by flexifoil."

Cheers,
TIm

Last year a 9.5M Mark I sold for £175 plus postage.

Condition was described as:
Great condition with no repairs. A few minor dirty marks on the canopy if i'm being picky. Bar and lines have no visible wear.

Concerning the repair... trust, but verify. See if you can get the paperwork for it.

Has the Sabre had any modifications done to it? See this thread:

Loved the 11.5 Mk1. Turn rate was really good, especially for the time and I really liked the bar set up with the spinning leash. Cobra cleat worked sick but really does a number on the depower line over time.

I never had any of the issues some others have described. The only problem I had was the vents. Material that they had used as mesh for the vents had a tendency to snag. So if you have the leading edge down on a surface like snagging crust on ice or mowed hay on land the mesh can get little snags and eventually the vents start to shrink and cut off intake flow.

I contacted Flexi about this and they took care of it for me. While I was waiting they told me to keep flying the kite and simply cut nthe mesh out. I did and the kite flew awesome again.

I sold the kite RTF for about $250 as I had cut the mesh out. If one came across my path again and it was cheap I'd snap it up. I miss that kite.

I used to borrow a 7m from a friend which was a great kite at the time - similar to the 2005 model Frenzy. It was a nicer bar set up than ozone had though.

Thanks for the info guys.

I'm wondering if the bar could be replaced with a better one with a better safety ? (ozone megatron, or even a sabre mk2 bar ?)

The safety IMO on the MK1 isn't bad for what it is. Not as flash as the megatron but pretty good.

I didn't much care for the MK2 bar. No spinning leash set up which I really appreciate.
