When you look at my Tonkowa quaver .... what size handles you would pick for each kite size ???

My 15.4 is awesome on large ....

Do I get Large for 11.5 also ??? or go with Medium ???

then Medium would go with 8.7 and 6.8 ??

and smaller sizes on Small ???

Let me know what you think ..

it'd go large on the 11 medium 8-6 and small 3-5

I'd go large on everything over 8ms and potentially large on everything 6ms and over as its always better to have more brake torque than too little. Medium handles for kites in the 4-6m range and small for everything 3m and under (or medium).

IMO its better to be too long than too short as you can control the brake throw on a long handle but if the handle is too short to leverage the kite than there is nothing you can do about it.

There have been times when I've felt my handles were too short for a given kite but I don't think I've ever thought my handles were too long (though I wouldn't pair large handles with 2m kites).

Since I have one set of large and one of medium I think I will take some time on next WBB to put those on larger sizes and test with each one .... I think too large handles on smaller sizes will crate some problems when you unwanted brake input is magnified by long handles .... or I am wrong ?>?

I would not put large handles on small kites but whether a handle is too large for a kite depends on how tight you like to keep the break lines before the brakes are applied and how much break leverage is required to turn / fly the kite properly given the amount of slack you leave in the brake lines before you apply the brakes.

Play around with it and you will see there is an optimum brake line length (based on leader knot positioning) and handle length. When in doubt go longer. Short handles can make turning a really powered kite which requires brake input difficult.
