She is little....but she is mine

3shot - 18-3-2013 at 06:22 PM

Here is my newest addition to the quiver (gosh it sounds good to say that word now:smilegrin: . My Rage 1.8
Rigged and ready to roll.

I decided on a 1.8 Rage to replace my 2 line HQ 1.8
Funny I guess most people go bigger and bigger, and here I go backwards from the last 5m LOL. A noticeable different shape than my Flows. I cant wait to get her airborn and see what thats all about :wee:.

I have a really dumb question. Why is the Rage 1.8 like a foot and a half longer than my HQ 1.8?? I'm not complaning, pleasantly surprised actually. Just curious is all. By all rights it's 7'4". That does equal 2.2m.
Thanks for the insight.

1.8 (square) meters is the area not span.

Thanks Scudley! Makes sense now. The HQ 1.8 is shorter, but taller. Today, I am smarter

I love Flexifoils, I have five including two Rages, a 2.5 and 4.7. You will love that little kite- have a blast and nice pick-up!

rkieser - 18-3-2013 at 07:07 PM

It's a great feeling getting a new kite. I got to fly my new PL hornet 4m last Thursday. Not to sure if I'm that happy with it. I guess I'm so used to how my 2m ozone flow fly, that it might be to early for judgment.

Let me know how she handles.

Sorry about the double post. Computer real slow.

WELDNGOD - 18-3-2013 at 07:13 PM

congrats ! you CAN buggy with that kite BTW.:wee:

Kober - 18-3-2013 at 07:15 PM

.... Ok ..... you the one who outbid me on this Rage eBay auction ..... congrats ....

pongnut - 18-3-2013 at 07:15 PM

NICE! I need one of those :ninja:

Yeah, for some reason HQ uses the span of the kite instead of the area in the names of its 2-line smaller foils. So the actual area of your HQ 1.8 is probably close to 1.0 square meter, whereas the area of your Rage is a legitimate 1.8 square meters.

Thanks Annie and kieser!!
Yeah, new kite syndrome. I was quite the little child playing in the floor with it tonight. Wifey just smiled and shook her head :bigok:
Two more weeks, and I be NC bound :D
I'm gonna dig this 1.8 down there. Wind is pretty constant 15-20 on the NC Dunes this time of year. Not trying to get blown over to Portugal with that 5m

Um.........
No........
it....it.... was that other guy........

"Someone" bumped me closer to my max bid at the end :ninja:

Seriously though, Had I known you were on to this one, I would have gladly caught the next wave. Was a hard toss between this one and that green 2.8 across the pond.

I know.
One day I have got to meet up with your beach crew to try my hand. It is inevitable my arse will wind up on a set of wheels one day. I do have a good sailing background if that helps. I can run a Zuma and Sunfish purty darn good.

Kober - 18-3-2013 at 08:49 PM

... Just kidding ...
.... did not bid on this one ... I got 2.2 Ozon Yakuza from same seller ....

... enjoy .... and if you come to Wildwood Buggy Bash that kite may be very useful ...

Proletariat - 18-3-2013 at 10:16 PM

Brilliant addition! Congrats!

skimtwashington - 19-3-2013 at 04:46 AM

oh...so that's who got that Yakuza! Get any other of the Yakuzas? All sold for wicked cheap.:wow:

Very cool little kites, and, IMHO, one of the very coolest graphics on it, too!

Yeah, I had the same thought as I started out with a 2.1 m HQ symphony, and totally missed that the symphonies are measured in linear meters measuring the span, where when you get into 4 line stuff it goes in square meters.

Congrats!!!

abkayak - 19-3-2013 at 10:44 AM

little kites rock.....i hope you get 20+ winds real soon...too much fun...wear kS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s

acampbell - 19-3-2013 at 12:06 PM

I have a Rage 1.8 in that color too. Great to show the sport to a newbie in higher winds than you would otherwise want. And when the wind is over 20-something, a great buggy engine. The guys at Flexifoil used to write about flying them in 50 mph winds on heavier lines.

Good thing you learned in Metric and not SAE, for the 1.8m we would be saying stuff like "My new Rage 19.375ft²"
Guess what size this one is, 165.76ft²
How about saying, I have a 258.33ft² Synergy :o now it sounds really big. We can add this to the blue/right, red/left thing

Also remember, this measurement is laying flat on the ground, not full of air or being flown.

bigkid - 19-3-2013 at 12:51 PM

OH, and by the way, as the wind increases and you get this little baby out to use, remember that the faster the wind blows/the smaller the kite gets. The smaller the kite gets/the faster the kite gets. The faster the kite gets/ the slower you get. The slower you get/the less this little baby will float you back to earth after you OBE.

50mph winds and a 1.8 rage? I cant believe that, I would need to see the video, or the Coroner's report.

But, besides all of that, it is a nice little kite to play with. A small set of handles and you could carry the complete kite in your back pocket for those couple of empty minutes that pop up every so often.

3shot - 19-3-2013 at 01:31 PM

Wow guys! It does make one feel good to get the pro's nod on my latest baby:D
I'll be going static ( :( ) in OBX in two weeks. Just had to snag this one up for those higher beach winds. Was wanting to maximize my flight time down there with the 1.8.
The 3 & 5m are going, but afraid I might not get to fly those but early am or late eve. I am not even getting snatched off the dune tops with those!!!!Not with those stronger beach winds. I'm only used to my safe lil soccer fields now with the 3+5 LOL. Yes, helmet and kS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s will be there. Always wear the kS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s anyway, and picked up my new helmet a few weeks ago.
Oh lord help me when I ask Wifey for some more $$ for a buggy. I feel I'm apt to be down that road very soon.......
A month ago I said nah......... you guys said..... yea right
But now......:dunno:
It is mighty tempting. One can only static but so long huh???????
Thanks all for the WBB invites, but my years vaca was set on Jan 1. Maybe next year though!

3shot - 22-3-2013 at 05:33 PM

going out tomorrow to give her a spin. Wifey got her new Nikon with 1080 HD abilities. 10,000 settings on that thing. Good grief!! Hope to get some good pics and maybe a HD vid or two.

Cant wait. Winds only forcast 5-10 though
Might have to settle for the 5m. Oh well, fingers are crossed it will get just a little higher to make the Flexi sing!

Is it normal to sleep with your new kites???
Just wondering if I have it bad, or if it gets worse?

Have you set a place for your kites at the dinner table yet?

Have you ever been pulled over on the side of the road, trying to explain that a certain amount of kites qualifies you for the HOV lane(even if there are no other humans in the vehicle).

Have you ever let your kites call "shotgun" over your SO?

You probably have it bad, but it can always get worse.

Sam
