Navigator TS BAR setup help needed

flyguy0101 - 18-3-2013 at 06:59 AM

Alright I need some Help from those that have the new peter lynn navigator bar for the twinskins- i would like to modify a bar that i already have with the new centrix loop and clam cleat but am stuck on how the saftey line is hooked into the system- can one of you please take some pictures for me of the connection point where the power lines attach and how the safety is also attached there. If you are ambitious and willing to measure the safety line as well that would be great\
thanks in advance
Scott

Scott
There are the two power line leaders coming off the ring and then the safety attaches to one of the lines right where the leaders connect to the main flying lines (see shot from Peter Lynn site)
Is it the length of that leader you need?

Scott, it ties in about a third of the way up one of the top lines. There is a loop in the lines there and the bungee safety line passes through the loop captively. The connection has to be small and smooth enough so it can pass through the hole in the bar.

Sometimes it doesn't. I found myself holding an almost flagged 12m in 30 mph winds one time when something bound up and didn't let the bar pass far enough to flag the kite. I sent a message to the designer but got no reply. There must be a picture of it somewhere.

If you get stuck, I can take a pic on wednesday. Winds are supposed to be up and I'm going to try to get out and ride.

That picture is REALLY not to scale but that is the idea. The safety line is probably 20 feet long.

thanks guys- that is what i was looking for- i must have looked at it ten times this weekend and just didnt see it:puzzled:
i was figuring that was how it was done. Although i agree with you bob that seems like a lot of stuff to squeeze through the bar and chicken loop to flag out fully. I am working with a griffin bar i picked up that is really nice but to not like the below the bar setup that much and figured i could swap out the loop and clam cleat to make it navi-ish since it is already running the dual lines and safety through it- 20 feet is about what i was figuring- I would actually bet that the griffin bar and navi bar came out of the same chinese factory. both have that squarish wide holed center. trying to figure it all out with the right mods and reusing as much as possible since bar is virtually new
thanks

sorry, I posted that image quickly without adding that it was not to scale. And also the leaders are the same as the flying line just long extensions.
With the the trim set to max power (black ball against the cleat) and with the swivel and loop snug up to the bar:
- From the top of the bar to the point the safety connects is 224 in.
- The first portion of the safety is bungee this is from roughly the top of the loop up to the ring where the main lines attach. This is roughly 40 inches from top of bar to the ring.
- you have two sections of main flying line (that I'll call leaders) that come from the ring above the trim assembly and run approx 184 in. They both end with loops that the main length of top lines are connected to (loop through loop) - this is also the point where the safety joins one main line.

NOTE: this was on the medium length bar
