Not going to NABX? how about Sunset?

It appears not many Vancouverites are going to NABX this year, some of us are considering heading down to Seaside instead. Anyone else up for a spring (barely) weekend at the beach? This, of course, is very dependent on weather forecasts closer to the event. Anyone know what the tides will be?

Are you going to NABX? I think as our host it would damned rude of you not to be at home when I gone to all the trouble of inviting everyone.

What is typical Easter at Seaside? Vancouver, it almost always pours buckets Easter weekend.

It seems like most of the times that I had gone to NABX that the weather here always got better. Just to tease me I think.

Word in the park today was that we will all try and go down for Easter Weekend. Everybody seemed excited about the idea ! Should at least see the dirtier half of the dozen ! :bigok:

This Easter weekend trip was set up before the news on NABX. We aren't anti-NABX just happened that none of us were going this year. I know the 3 Ken's have rooms booked + at least 3 others from Van will be headed down.

With the changes of late it is an option. It would be great to see a big group show up !

Hey all what are the dates for this meet up and is it open to all like sobb is ? The wife and I were not sure if we could make nabx because of funds atm but we did take the week for nabx and sobb off . So maybe two trips could work out for us!!!!

by the way, if you give me a hundred bucks, I'll give you a permit for the beach and a tshirt. ;). That way it will seem more like NABX, but you have to pick up your shirt at the bakery.

That is true. About the only rule I know of on Sunset beach is that you can not conduct commercial business on the beach .

Everything else is Phreedom!

We will be there Fri March 29 through Canadian Easter Monday.
The more the merrier .

Yep, one of the few places left to buggy that DOESN'T have a crap load of restrictions and hoops to jump through. If fact, thanks to Brad at Discover Parasailing he was able to get specific wording, "KITE BUGGY" in the updated law! Yeah Brad!!! Now some over reaching park ranger can't just kick us off the beach, it is actually in the law!!! Unlike Washington, where it is specifically banned, and look at all the hoops that they have to go through.

Oh and... other things will be legal here soon enough...

Not on purpose. Kiting has been slow since I started Graduate school. I should have a couple of boards out there though. Lets see how much I can remember.

K3 is correct
It is Sunset Beach Lane and the beach access is as hard as the road, a motor home could make it.
When you drive on to the beach we will be up to the North about a mile.

I will be there around 9am on Saturday. Looks like a pretty low high tide in the afternoon, could make for a long day of buggying! :thumbup:

Yes, the Sunset Beach approach is very solid, very much unlike the Gearhart approach.

Thanks for all the great comments and I'm glad that everybody enjoyed this past weekend as much as I did. Thanks to Bill for being the sacrificial lamb on Saturday. Wasn't but 10 min after you left that the wind shifted to onshore. It's a shame for those that weren't able to stay a little bit longer on Sunday. The late afternoon turned into a pretty sweet time. Winds kicked up to 20 or so gusting to 25. Ken3, Ron and myself ... in honor of all who came, rode until we didn't have much left in us. We'll have to do it again...:thumbup:

What can I say...this is my most favorite place to fly.
Great friends and great winds.
Saturday was really interesting flying in the fog, dodging vehicles without there headlights on and clammers.
(clam season)
Sunday was the best as Jim said.
I did 35.9mph on my 2.6 Viper
I was going to change up to my 3.9 but the sun was dropping fast and I was having way to much fun getting some park and flys in.


It was really great to see everyone again.
