It appears not many Vancouverites are going to NABX this year, some of us are considering heading down to Seaside instead. Anyone else up for a
spring (barely) weekend at the beach? This, of course, is very dependent on weather forecasts closer to the event. Anyone know what the tides will
be?
Ssunset-Jim - 21-2-2013 at 10:06 AM
Not too shabby
Scudley - 21-2-2013 at 10:33 AM
Jim, I was talking during NABX, not June. How is end of march beginning of april?
Ssunset-Jim - 21-2-2013 at 11:14 AM
ahhh sorry, I thought ya meant for spring SOBB.
Looks like even better yet.
Scudley - 21-2-2013 at 02:28 PM
Are you going to NABX? I think as our host it would damned rude of you not to be at home when I gone to all the trouble of inviting everyone.
What is typical Easter at Seaside? Vancouver, it almost always pours buckets Easter weekend.
Ssunset-Jim - 21-2-2013 at 04:13 PM
I (for my Northern friends benefit) will be hosting my beach
It seems like most of the times that I had gone to NABX that the weather here always got better. Just to tease me I think.Bladerunner - 22-2-2013 at 07:36 AM
Are you suggesting Easter long weekend ?
I don't have any extra holiday time this year but I could possilby be convinced to go down over Easter?dirtslide - 22-2-2013 at 10:07 AM
lock in somed dates and Dixie and I will be there ,need dates to reserve a hotel ,still to cold for the camping trailer, maybe get a cabin againsunset-Jim - 22-2-2013 at 10:11 AM
This will be great. Just let me know what I can do to be of any help in any way.bigkid - 22-2-2013 at 11:08 AM
sure you dont want to fly to WW for a week instead of Sunset Beach? All the cool kids will be there.jellis - 22-2-2013 at 02:19 PM
Sunset-Jim " I (for my Northern friends benefit) will be hosting my beach" Now wait a minute, I don't remember selling you my half...........:Dsunset-Jim - 22-2-2013 at 02:35 PM
Sorry Jonnie, just because I share my beach with you, that doesn't make you a partner in ownership. But feel free to use it anytime you
like....:evil:dirtslide - 22-2-2013 at 05:51 PM
@ Big Kid, yes I do want to get on that east coast beach . shooting for next year to be there with you.jellis - 23-2-2013 at 09:51 AM
Jimmy you know I have the deed to the beach!sunset-Jim - 23-2-2013 at 11:17 AM
sunset-Jim, hmmmm. Jellis, hmmmm.... Need I say more on who holds the deed?Bladerunner - 23-2-2013 at 05:31 PM
I'm not sure who owns the beach ? Johnny may have squaters rights ?
I DO know who the Mayor is, THAT was made clear to me before I ever got there. ! :cool2:
Word in the park today was that we will all try and go down for Easter Weekend. Everybody seemed excited about the idea ! Should at least see the
dirtier half of the dozen ! :bigok:Bladerunner - 27-2-2013 at 05:31 PM
This Easter weekend trip was set up before the news on NABX. We aren't anti-NABX just happened that none of us were going this year. I know the 3
Ken's have rooms booked + at least 3 others from Van will be headed down.
With the changes of late it is an option. It would be great to see a big group show up !
:bigok:lucky_13 - 27-2-2013 at 06:03 PM
Hey all what are the dates for this meet up and is it open to all like sobb is ? The wife and I were not sure if we could make nabx because of funds
atm but we did take the week for nabx and sobb off . So maybe two trips could work out for us!!!!sand flea - 27-2-2013 at 06:59 PM
As a one of the Sunset Beach Bums I can speak for all of us,
Please come join us!
Nothing is ever closed at any of our gatherings,
the more the merrier.
It sounds like this little get together will be over Easter weekend
Chris C1sunset-Jim - 27-2-2013 at 07:08 PM
I'm not sure which weekend is Easter weekend for our friends from the Great White North. They always do everything different :P So as soon as we
here from one them we'll all know.Scudley - 27-2-2013 at 07:33 PM
that's right Jim. We have a different Jesus than you guys. You might have heard of Jesus of Montreal?
S
by the way, if you give me a hundred bucks, I'll give you a permit for the beach and a tshirt. . That way it will seem more like NABX, but you have to pick up your shirt at the bakery.Bladerunner - 27-2-2013 at 07:54 PM

That is true. About the only rule I know of on Sunset beach is that you can not conduct commercial business on the beach .
Everything else is Phreedom!
We will be there Fri March 29 through Canadian Easter Monday.
The more the merrier .bigkid - 27-2-2013 at 08:02 PM
I wish I could be there, would be a good time. I just have to think passed all the stuff and watch the beach cam to see you all buggy by. Have fun.:Pcsa_deadon - 27-2-2013 at 11:47 PM

Ask Jimmy for a ride with the JoJo, you never know it may be the machine you need.:wink2:bison - 1-3-2013 at 11:42 AM
Damn I'll be there... OH wait... I live here!!! BAWAHAHAHAHA!!!
Yep, one of the few places left to buggy that DOESN'T have a crap load of restrictions and hoops to jump through. If fact, thanks to Brad at Discover
Parasailing he was able to get specific wording, "KITE BUGGY" in the updated law! Yeah Brad!!! Now some over reaching park ranger can't just kick us
off the beach, it is actually in the law!!! Unlike Washington, where it is specifically banned, and look at all the hoops that they have to go
through.
Oh and... other things will be legal here soon enough...dirtslide - 1-3-2013 at 05:22 PM
thanks Brad maybe he will come out for a cold one so we can thank him properly. And Bison I was hoping to see you there ;-) going to be a fun
weekend.:cool2::cool2::wee:sand flea - 1-3-2013 at 07:36 PM

remember.Scudley - 20-3-2013 at 10:01 AM
Here is the 14 day forecast for Seaside.

I beleive its Sunset Beach Lane....it should be very passable
I think the Mayor lives down that way....can't quite remember what his name is though....
Arrive Friday and leave Monday as well.
48 hours and counting till i'm on the road!!
Looking forward to seeing you all!
Ken(K3)sand flea - 27-3-2013 at 05:40 AM
K3 is correct
It is Sunset Beach Lane and the beach access is as hard as the road, a motor home could make it.
When you drive on to the beach we will be up to the North about a mile.
Looking forward to seeing you all,
drive safely,
Chris C1Scudley - 27-3-2013 at 07:28 AM

Thanks for all the great comments and I'm glad that everybody enjoyed this past weekend as much as I did. Thanks to Bill for being the sacrificial
lamb on Saturday. Wasn't but 10 min after you left that the wind shifted to onshore. It's a shame for those that weren't able to stay a little bit
longer on Sunday. The late afternoon turned into a pretty sweet time. Winds kicked up to 20 or so gusting to 25. Ken3, Ron and myself ... in honor
of all who came, rode until we didn't have much left in us. We'll have to do it again...RonH - 2-4-2013 at 09:42 AM

Great beach, great friends. Yes, let's do it again soon:P

What can I say...this is my most favorite place to fly.
Great friends and great winds.
Saturday was really interesting flying in the fog, dodging vehicles without there headlights on and clammers.
(clam season)
Sunday was the best as Jim said.
I did 35.9mph on my 2.6 Viper
I was going to change up to my 3.9 but the sun was dropping fast and I was having way to much fun getting some park and flys in.
It was really great to see everyone again.
See you all at SOBB.
