zalex820 - 26-1-2013 at 11:04 PM

Oh wow. What low life scum would do something like that. I will deft keep my eyes peeled.

Snake - 26-1-2013 at 11:28 PM

Dang dude, that must sting. I will keep my eyes peeled for anyone selling a bunch of brand new gear. Just a random thought though... it would be funny if the guy was stupid enough to try selling them on here.

zalex820 - 26-1-2013 at 11:31 PM

You know snake I wouldn't be surprised one bit. There are to many people that just aren't bright out there.

rocfighter - 27-1-2013 at 06:44 AM

I will keep and eye out here as well as I am often looking for this sort of thing.

g-force junkie - 27-1-2013 at 08:22 AM

Nick, what happened, I was there yesterday and it seems that they would have to hike in from the hiway to pull that off

erratic winds - 27-1-2013 at 10:39 AM

I don't know the details at all, assuming a lesson and instructor got away from base camp for awhile, and some unscrupulous person saw an opportunity.... very sad...

bigkid - 27-1-2013 at 11:28 AM

Any chance the items that need to be recovered can be posted here? Some of us have a hard enough time with finding the on/off button for the computer let alone navigating those social sites.:embarrased:
Thanks. I hate it when stuff like this happens. Chances are the moron has no clue and thought it would be cool to fence it for a few bucks.

One thing you might do is check the local pawn shops, give them a call and ask if they might have any kites or kite stuff for sale. I did this a number of years ago when the back of my truck was busted into, found all the stuff was taken literally across the street and sold at the pawn shop. I was able to produce the numbers of the tools and got everything back. Even went to court and met the idiot who took them.

Kamikuza - 27-1-2013 at 06:07 PM

Sorry to hear that - I #@%$#!ing hate thieves.

jeepersjoey - 27-1-2013 at 07:49 PM

Nick you know this...

I live in the Denver area and frequent all the places that someone will dump that kind of stuff. I monitor CL and the classifieds for kite stuff. If they do try to sell it around here, I will catch them.

Definitely post a list if possible.

shortlineflyer - 27-1-2013 at 08:38 PM

Recovered!

BEC - 28-1-2013 at 12:24 PM

another scenario...and I'm only saying this speaking from personal experience...Maybe and just maybe it was ice fisherman leaving having been drinking all day and just loaded up the wrong sled into the truck? I've seen it happen sometimes at our local lake but that is fishing equipment looking the same as another black filled w/ fishing equipment and not a black ice sled filled with colorful bags of kites...but the beer at 6 am tends to leave a few not so smart.

Sorry and I hope you do get them all back...seems like a hard thing to steal and try to sell.

erratic winds - 28-1-2013 at 12:58 PM

This particular location does not have any ice fisherman, so we sadly can't blame it on just a drunk loading the wrong sled.

macboy - 28-1-2013 at 03:31 PM

Seems all has been returned. Anyone have the full story?

erratic winds - 28-1-2013 at 03:53 PM

Recovered!

B-Roc - 28-1-2013 at 04:56 PM

That's awesome. Please tell us how it all worked out. Did you play the role of the interested buyer? How helpful is Craigslist when it comes to things like this (in terms of tracking IPs or helping you recover your gear)? Did the local authorities get involved? What was the nature of his post and did he know or pretend to know anything about kites at all? What was his excuse when caught?

erratic winds - 28-1-2013 at 04:57 PM

I have no additional information, I was not involved in any way. I will share any details I find.

I am just very glad that the one guy who is 100% serious about sharing the stoke in CO has his school equipment back.

Moultonlava - 28-1-2013 at 07:06 PM

Does anyone know what side of the lake he was on?

thanson2001ok - 29-1-2013 at 03:01 PM

To whomever did the PI work, KUDOS.

Hope the guilty party was busted.

Bladerunner - 29-1-2013 at 05:39 PM

Very interested in the full story here.

Please give an update if you here aything else. So many things I wonder.

I have to expect the seller didn't " steal " the kites. He " found " them , I bet !
How much was he trying to sell them for?

erratic winds - 29-1-2013 at 05:52 PM

I hope to get the full story this weekend, will share if I do.

erratic winds - 4-2-2013 at 08:15 AM

As the story was related to me, someone found items that were not lost. ;)

It's all good now.

bourgeois.jason - 4-2-2013 at 12:51 PM

LOL!

erratic winds - 4-2-2013 at 01:01 PM

I don't know if it's a generous version of the story, but it's the one I heard. ;)
