reviews of every mbs mountainboard

I am starting this topic so that there is a single place for mbs mountainboard reviews. I am looking for a new board and want to read as many reviews as possible.

I have been able to find some reviews but they were either not very in depth or older boards
I would like to hear some reviews about the following boards
core 90
core 95
comp 90
comp 95
Pro 90 (new and old)
all team rider boards
Pro 100

I think you need to get a Flexboard and bypass the MBS:lol: for you my friend the price would be a bit better.

What do you like to do? This is the question you need to answer. If you like freestyle, get a short light board (any of the 90s mentioned above) if you like big air, stability, but not many tricks get one of the bigger MBS boards. If you plan to stay on the ground and cruise, get the flexboardz: it will hold a better edge, go faster, give better upwind capability, and be more stable all at the same time. However, if you plan to go big (as in up) on a flexboardz.... good luck

I might, but i need to try one before I decide. I don't want to end up with something that isn't what I want or that wont be able to do what I want. I am trying to avoid impulse as much as possible, because its always a gamble when you do.
One of the reasons I want an MBS is they are a lot less expensive than trampa.

Weight doesnt bother me that much because I jumped with a comp 26 at wildwood without a problem and they are supposed to be the one of the heaviest.

the #'s are related to deck size and therefore a core 90 review will be pretty much exactly the same as core 100

I was looking on the mbs website and almost every deck has a different stiffness

I gotta tell you about price for hobby equipment. Nothing feels more remorseful than spending money on something that is almost what you wanted. Skip the steps in between, if this is going to be your ultimate board. This actually saves you money. Nothing feels better than knowing your item is the best there is for what you do.

If this is going to be your one and only board, dont buy anything until you have tried them all. Hold off until WW in the spring and I know of a few boards that will show up you can try as well as others who will bring theirs also. By then you might have a buggy and not want a board.:lol:

You should have at least tried the TRAMPA while at WW. We had three there ready to go! Yeah a little more money, but when they come with a lifetime gaurantee on the deck, what else do you need to buy??? You are close enough to come over to our local spot and give one a go anyway. We have one with skate trucks on it. Still very durable.

I have the Comp 95x w. 9in tires.
Great board, heavier, but plows through softer sand with ease.

I also have the Flexboard Haize w. 9in tires too...also heavy, BUT it will blast up the beach faster than I'd ever go on my MBS.

I'm keeping my eye out as well for a light board that won't snap with 215lbs coming down on it...

So, how are you wanting to ride? Vertical (jumps) or Horizontal (carving aka mowing the lawn)?

If I did it all over....My MBS would be the lightest one they make (Core 90)...Then, I'd have both bases covered with Flex being my speed machine.

Then get a core 95. It's relatively cheap, quite durable, light, and fairly stable. For the record, speed on a flexboardz will come faster, but I have yet to see anyone go faster than Eli or Gabe on one (although I heard they did somewhere). You just have to take time to find the sweet spot on THAT board.

I am going to wait until the next wwbb so I can try as many boards and brands as possible before making a decision. because of the wheels and tires I want, I don't really care about weight. I want the 9 inch tires which add 3 to 4 pounds. My decision will most likely come down to what deck and trucks I like the most. I really want to try a flexboard though.

I love my core 90. it is light and not too flexi. It is pretty basic with regular skate type trucks but i have been riding it now for four years and it still going strong, although I have replace the wheels and bearings once. I like the try before you buy strategy but when you live in a place that has no retailers you are out of luck. I suggest doing your homework and then hope for the best. You will get used to what ever one you buy in the end.

I have Core 95 with white bushing. I've done a couple of ride on pavement road and it is pretty sweet. About to try it on some single track trail soon and on kite once i get one from crazyherb and I'll update here on how I feels on kite in a month or two.

Starting to do small jumping on comp 95. This board can handle it. I still need to learn powerslide... :(

This is great board if you want to get started on boarding and have experience of longboarding.

IT DOES NOT WORK ON SNOW! I planted my face a lot trying this.

powersliding is scary at first, I am stioll learning to do it, but basically it is the same as power sliding on a longboard. bend both knees and turn and push out the leg on the side you want to slide.

Another core 95 rider here. I am very pleased with mine. I am short and light . 5'7" 140 - 150lbs.

Simple Vector skate trucks are low maintanance and light. Flex is just perfect at my size. I moved to this board once I wanted to jump and have no regrets.

Previously I owned MBS Blade. BIG HEAVY board . This board was perfect for me at the time. Big stable platform. I needed it since I had NO board skills. I struggled with higher performance boards I borrowed and had my breakthrough on the Blade.

In between I got a MBS Comp 16. Also a heavy board. Pretty bullet proof. Plate bindings were not so great. I had to sort of twist my feet to hold in them . I moved up from this board when I started jumping. It was too heavy and stiff.

yeah. Been trying to do it without protective gear at first.. Guess I wasnt comfortable with it.. I will try again once I get padded up! Should I practice powerslide on grass, pavement, or dirt road?

I feel instead of trying to get a review on every single board mbs makes or made it would be more productive to give us a list of what you want out of the board along with your size and stance.

For example if your 6'5" 250# than you can rule out certain boards. If you want smooth ride in rough terrain you can rule out others. If you want the lightest and smallest for big air that makes it easy .. etc.

If it has to be MBS then get a Pro 90. I have tried the old version and its very light and very poppy. you dont really have to load the lines much to do small jumps its a board for freestyle though and i'm not good enough to justify replacing the perfectly good Flexifoil boards i already own. It makes some intermediate tricks reall easy though. you can hop round 180 super easy - like a snowboard.

@hellnferno - the key to getting your board to slide is to get your weight off it and hanging off the kite. Its easiest on wet grass, closely followed by loose sand or dirt on hardpack.

i have a core 95. I like the board/bindings/trucks all that... the twistar hubs tho... they suck. Like really bad. Like super retarded amazingly terrible. like i cant tell you how bad those hubs are.... BANE OF MY EXISTENCE BAD!! STRANGLE YOURSELF AWFUL! WORST, MOST ANGER INDUCING PRODUCT I HAVE EVER PLACED MY HANDS ON!!!!

Maybe mine are just toast, but ive had issues with them from day one... they are constantly shredding tubes. the gap between the hubs pinches the tube and shreds em every time. ive had a few guys look at em, and confirm my diagnosis as cr@ptastic :thumbup:

I got the board from a buddy at a good price so i cant complain... but had i bought that thing new, no amount of good could make up for those damn hubs... im going to probably buy Trampa hubs for the board, but im usually shy on kite funds it seems :lol: I even thought about having someone machine me some 1 piece hubs to avoid this nonsense in the future...... Bottom line, nice board setup, skip the twistar hubs AT ALL COST! :D

seriously... look at the pic and tell me 'dat gap' is going to do anything besides cause you trouble!

Plus all those little teeth break on me (first time out in all but one time)... then the hubs wont lock properly and you have more headaches.....

Comp 90 perfect balance for kitting but i dont like the vectors trucks
Pro 95 ...no for kitting ..too heavy and too long but i like the fact that is wide
Pro 90 the old one the black perfect but they discontinued because the cost was pretty high
Pro 90 the new one ...very good , pop pop for jumping perfect with flex of 4 similar to the deck of comp 90 ....titanium trucks are very light weight just for jumping and no too much or you will bend the trucks , the pro 90 is not for cruising ...and you need to go with red bushing .
The pro 100 is out the question ...this board is too long ..perfect for cruising ...
The leon is out the question too long
Comp 95 ...too stick no flexibility ...no for kitting if you jump landing is hard .
The hubs of mbs the plastic with no harware are perfect ! No weight very strong , the tires of mbs the T3 are very good , the T1 still the lighters in the market .

For me the MBS pro 90 is better the trampa in similar mountainboard ...its lighter and the looks is pretty amazing .

F4 bidings of mbs in white the best ! Those never get old and hight quality and very good look .
Mbs is doing good ...

I've got the MBS Comp 90.

I'm new to land boarding so I can't really speak from the seasoned perspective of having tried numerous boards. I can say that the board seems sturdy and feels light to me. I've had no problems getting rolling when I steer the kite into the power zone.

Also discovered that the Comp 90 doubles as a really fun board for downhill stuff when there's no wind (something I originally had no intentions of doing when I bought it hehe).

As far as the twistar hubs post goes, I've ridden mine for literally hundreds of hours and never had a problem.... just sayin. I'd say go with one of the 90 models from MBS...
