Pansh sale. [Edited - Northern Group Buy Done. Order shipped from Pansh.]

macboy - 27-9-2012 at 07:31 PM

So I was musing in the Lobster thread and wandered over to the Pansh site for a peek-see and saw the 15m Aurora being offered up at 50% off.......

Anyone have any info at all? Dieter? You flown one yet? $300 isn't bad to experiment with as long as someone's willing to buy it off me for $200 when I'm done.

[GROUP BUY?]

Okay, I'm in. Anyone want to get them even CHEAPER?

I'm willing to broker the transaction if two others want to get in on this. Not only are the 12 and 15's on sale but the 3 for 2 is still on. For example....if we order up 3 15's we pay for two so we each pay $200 for the kite. One 15 and two twelves we pay $178. Two 15's and a 12......you get my point.

Obviously we'd need to mail the kites out to the new owners so there's a bit more cost there but minor compared to the huge savings on the kit.

Let me know. I'll order Sunday morning.

Snake - 27-9-2012 at 09:08 PM

IMO it's worth a shot. I noticed the 12m is 50% off too. I read that pansh is really improving their products and this may be a big step for them.

canuck - 27-9-2012 at 09:18 PM

I was looking at them too. If the 15m will fly in our light summer winds I'll buy it off you but I'll likely need a bar.

Bladerunner - 28-9-2012 at 06:55 AM

Really ?

$300 for 15m not 8? Gotta look at that when I get home !

What does Sir Deiter think ?

mdpminc - 28-9-2012 at 07:21 AM

Two kites for $543:eekdrull:- 12 for $235 :eekdrull:- 15 for $299 :eekdrull:
Customize to ALL BLACK or ALL "whatever" for extra $180
Try that with Flysurfer or HQ ?????

:puzzled: what should one do ????? :puzzled:

macboy - 28-9-2012 at 10:33 AM

Just sweetened the deal. Anyone in? See above.

kitedelight - 28-9-2012 at 11:07 AM

that got me looking!! ahha, would like to cause I've been wanting a light wind workhorse for the snow season, but can't at the moment.

just browsing around and might want to look into this...

It would probably be a good thing to double check and see if Pasch's has fixed this...although the other fella posting in the comments did say that the kite flew better after extending the back lines).

that being said, if the issue's been fixed and if you only have 1 other person and still go ahead with the 3 kite deal with the intention to sell, I might go for the 3rd kite around Dec/Jan.

i have to disagree somewhat with the video's verdict (no i am not a fanboy).
i don't keep up with new kites nowadays so i had no idea this aurora was a depower.
i did not clearly see the pilot at the beginning of the video and thought he had the kite on handles so i thought the kite was a big FB.
i've flown Pansh's Ace; 6, 7, 8 and the 5 Sprint LE.
this aurora flies friggin cirlcles around the Ace 8 (and all the other kites listed above), it turns tight and speeds to edge.
the 8m Ace is simply next to useless on a bar and can be managed by someone with experience on handles.
i was shocked near the end of vid to see the guy had the aurora on a bar and it was in fact a depower kite and not a FB on handles.
i'll have to take the guys 'word' when he stated the trailing edge wasn't even tucking when he pulled bar. i can't see/video quality for my self.
HOWEVER....pulling bar on depower kite/system is not intended simply to tuck the trailing(as is what applying brake input does with FBs)...
pulling bar with depower settup is done to move the "draft point" of the foil more fore and/or aft of the leading edge.
in the video i did notice the kite behave as though the brakes were applied. i assume those instances were attributed to when the pilot pulled bar.
for the price i'd say it is not a fail.

video leaves me confused...

skimtwashington - 28-9-2012 at 12:15 PM

- but prices......complete w/Bar and lines?...wow...... if it flys well only.

Macboy, count me in for one 15m if you order 3 with one other guy :thumbup: u2u sent as well.

Smeagol - 28-9-2012 at 01:03 PM

KO far as I could tell. I didn't see any bar/lines option under the Aurora.

macboy - 28-9-2012 at 01:18 PM

Cool MD - one more and she's done. I'll keep my eyes on this and as soon as we've got a 3rd I'll put the order in. You can pay when they arrive and we've calculated/arranged shipping to your place.

Re: Reviews.......I figure even with some tweaking required Dieter will help me out and can feed the info right back to Pansh. That, and if there are issues with the kite I KNOW he can help me/us get it all sorted whether it means a new kite or what.

The thing that caught me as odd was the fact that one guy kept saying something like "the wind hits the top of the kite and makes it collapse - lengthen the back lines. ?? I think you'd need the opposite......

Anywho. A 15 is what I'm after so I might as well give it a whirl - especially for $200. I'm working on a contra deal with a FSer retailer so if this is a stinker I can likely nab a 15 from them for the winter.

macboy - 28-9-2012 at 01:28 PM

UPDATE

We've got four in line. Smeagol & Eqrall it's between you two.

Eqrall - U2Ud you.

Heads up - in doing the math once you calculate shipping from me to you it seems that the 15 is the real deal. If you were thinking about a 12m the group buy doesn't save you much if anything so you can freely put your order in direct with Pansh. Tell the wide I said it's OK.

So, if you're hankering for a 15 let's do it. Maybe do some chipping calculations to your address from mine - 6812-86 Street, Edmonton, AB Canada T6E 2Y1 to make sure you're still getting a deal at the end of the day.

flyjump - 28-9-2012 at 01:47 PM

This is why I love this forum

Let us know the reviews once you've flown them a few times

Bladerunner - 28-9-2012 at 03:00 PM

I am short on time as I fly to Calgary.

I need to get better grips on this ?
Is it $300 KO shipped ? or only if you buy multiple then we pay shipping from Mac's?

At $300 I think I'm in ! I bought my 5m Pansh ace at $99 rtf because I couldn't believe it. This time I believe it and still own the Ace !

Mac' can you phone Deiter? I am very curious what he thinks .

Bladerunner - 28-9-2012 at 05:03 PM

So ...... looked at the site. Don't see the multi kite buy but I'll bite!

Obviously I am well off going in with somebody from Alberta ( or bc ) . If anybody wants to commit , I will split + split shipping of yours from Van. Or reverse.

Looks like I need to rig up a 5th line to one of my bars?

macboy - 28-9-2012 at 05:45 PM

Dieter didn't have anything to offer (hasn't seen it yet) but at the price and with Dieter close by us I think it's a safe gamble. The cost will be $200 plus shipping to your place from here. Let me know if you're in BR.

I think the cross border postage from here to the US kinda messes up the economies here but it's a great deal. Someone in the US should set up a similar buy? There are two from down south interested just need a third that can front the dough and they can get the deed done too.

Bigbear97e - 28-9-2012 at 05:50 PM

u2u me if someone needs another body to make a group of three ...

DAKITEZ - 28-9-2012 at 08:12 PM

what have you guys found for bars?

macboy - 28-9-2012 at 09:00 PM

Kite only as near as I can figure but I've got a few resources here ; )

Bladerunner - 28-9-2012 at 09:15 PM

Hey Macboy,

Count me in !

:bigok:

kitedelight - 28-9-2012 at 10:17 PM

ya, not sure about the technical knowledge about the guys in the video, just wanted to make sure that you guys were aware of potential issues. It was more of a double check thing, maybe contacting Pansch if nobody had run across it before.

sounds like fun, probably won't be long before hearing how you guys are getting along with it.
Macboy, I'll have to give your's a go when we do a snowkite meet up.

eqrall - 28-9-2012 at 11:06 PM

u2u sent

macboy - 29-9-2012 at 02:04 AM

Their website will only allow me to put one kite in the cart so I shot them an email to help with the transaction. I'll keep you posted.

Smeagol / eqrall - get in touch with BigBear. Maybe the three of you can do another buy?

Bladerunner - 29-9-2012 at 08:09 AM

Macboy,

If you are communicating with them ask if the kites can be delivered to more than one addresss ?

Message me and we can keep this going.

Smeagol - 29-9-2012 at 08:51 AM

Yeah, I was going to see about getting one going in the US to ease shipping costs.

Didn't want to hijack your thread though. ;)

Anyone in the US interested in going in?

Thanks,
Mike

macboy - 29-9-2012 at 11:52 AM

Mike get in touch with eqrall and BigBear. I'll ask Pansh about split shipping when I hear back from them.

Pansh - National Day promo, custom color FREE

mdpminc - 30-9-2012 at 07:28 AM

I got an e-mail from Pansh today regarding wind range, no specifics on riders weight .
So 15m would be most usable

Size Wind (Knots)
6.0m 13-31
8.0m 12-29
10.0m 10-27
12.0m 8-25
15.0m 7-22
19.0m 5-18

On top of that custom colors are offered for FREE during National Day promotion.

macboy - 30-9-2012 at 08:30 AM

?!?!?!?!

Get me your custom colour request right away. What I'll do is just buy two kites (two transactions) and shoot them an email explaining the transactions and requesting the third.

macboy - 30-9-2012 at 08:31 AM

(Is it Oct 1st in China already?)

Really, I mean it. What time zone are they?

stetson05 - 30-9-2012 at 08:16 PM

China is across the international date line. Things always ship faster from there because they go back in time.

macboy - 30-9-2012 at 09:06 PM

Officially ordered.

FYI - click the "Buy" tag to add the kite to the cart, go back to continue shopping and click the "Buy" tag again. Et Voila - two kites. If you hit the "Add" button it only ever nets one kite.

Two black and a white comin' up (we hope ; )

stetson05 - 30-9-2012 at 10:55 PM

Man I am dieing to buy something. a 15m would fit nice. I hope you like them

Bladerunner - 1-10-2012 at 06:30 AM

I promised myself I wasn't buying anything else. Then this came up.

Like I mentioned I bought in on the promo Ace @ $100 back in the day. Mostly to prove to myself it could be true. Still have the kite !

I have more faith this time. Getting to choose my own colour only adds confidence that they will be checking these close.

Always wanted to chose my own colours. Black with red tips! :eureka:

Still want an all white kite ?

MUST STOP BUYING KITES !!!!!!:ticking:

What can I say? I'm a sucker for a bargain too......

flyguy0101 - 1-10-2012 at 09:56 AM

@macboy- was unable to find the 3 for 2 deal so any add'l info appreciated
Also to any in the US- assuming we can do the 3 for 2 deal i am interested in one and would glad to be the "organizer" for a couple here in the states- $200 to try out an idea i have, seems reasonable let me know

macboy - 1-10-2012 at 12:56 PM

For me it was right on the home page - a floating image (below). Here's the link to the deal details.

scott

macboy - 4-10-2012 at 08:09 AM

Just got an email from Pansh - the order has been processed and will ship in 24 hours. No mention of any issues with the bargain. I'll keep everyone posted.

Bladerunner - 4-10-2012 at 04:58 PM

Hmmm,

I have emailed them twice asking about spec's on the bar. No answer and I assumed it was because they are still on holiday? :(

Dino,
I set up an old but new 50cm Cab' bar with an O.R. trim starp and a P.L. safety. Love Frankin'stuff! Not the longest throw but longer than the Cab' one. It may be a frankin'bar but it looks slick! All red and black like the kite! Total cost .... nothing ! I do get your point though. When this kite goes back to full price adding a bar will eat into it's " cheap " appeal.

Since the kite is 9.2 wings span I set my ( adjustable ) bar stopper at 5.5m. From the drawing it looks like the 5th should be equal in length to the 4 fly lines so I set it that way but used a Qline extension so it will be adjustable also. SOUND RIGHT ????

I feel terrible about how excited I am to get this kite. I am torn between wanting it to be an epic fail and it replacing the 14m Eskimo. I want it to do the job. Having chosen my own colours for the 1st time makes me want to really OWN this kite. Even if it means upgrading pulleys etc.. Fact is, I haven't been this excited about waiting to get a kite in a long time. Worth some of that $200 to revisit that thrill again ! Thanks Mac' !

The 5th line you will want longer than your 4 other lines. It should have a sag in it when flying. You do not want it tight under normal flying conditions. But also do not make it too long so that it will activate when you release the bar .. unless you do not put any stopper on the line and the bar has free travel to go as far as it wants.

I'm not worried about you snowy, but I can already see a new thread on the horizon ... Got my Pansh de-power ... now how do I tune a bar to make it fly correctly

Bladerunner - 4-10-2012 at 05:35 PM

I modified my 1st Ckite to 5th line in 06 so I think I have been at it a while. I have also had my Psycho II converted by powerzone and had to replace it when it snapped. My 13m Phsycho and 7m Pulse both had 5th . I am familiar with how they work. Kinda sorta :duh:

I have lots of extra length ready on the Qline. I am just guessing that Pansh has added the little extra so that all 4 equal is it ??? But we are talking Pansh. Hence the adjustability all round.

Tuna bar is more like it for you ! :P

The fact that this is bugging you adds $50 to the pleasure of waiting !
:bigok:
