Ozone Octane?

rtz - 11-2-2012 at 02:29 PM

I'm curious about if this is a replacement for the Flow, or the Method with a new name, or an additional model?

How does it compare to the Method/Flow?

How did you even find this? It wasn't even on there web site. Allthough looking at it I would say higher aspect ratio and good stability. Maybe a little higher class then the method. Although without seeing it side by side I can't be for sure.

Quite possibly one of the most butt fugly panel layouts that Ozone has done in quite some time. :megan:

Looking at the ...::: PDF :::... it looS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s more like a middle AR (something between the Flow and the Method) and they advertise it to be beginner friendly.

Also, as a closed cell, might be multi-purposed (land, snow).

Funny that it isn't on their site yet, and when searching for "Ozone Octane" you'll get info on a paraglider, O_o

Lol in the video it looked ok now actually seeing it on the pdf all I can say is…. FUGLY. Perfect description.

Reading the description off to the side it is going to replace the flow. It says exactly the same thing as the flow. word for word.

"5m2
The 5m is the one to beat in is this category, with light wind performance for effortless traction and an upper limit the pros will just keep pushing."

I am thinking maybe just a new panel design for the digital age.

Something must be wrong with me. I like the way it looks.

It doesn't look like every other panel layout out there. Maybe that's the attraction for me.

It could very well be butt fugly.

I like it too. Despite loving to fly 'em, I think Ozone design for the past few years is, well, bugly.

Now that it's out; any more info on it? Is it an old model with a new name or a new model to replace something?

indigo_wolf - 17-2-2012 at 03:46 PM

Replacement for the Flow.

Oh my stars and garters they have carried the same fugly layout to the Imp, Ignition (new name for the Imp 3-line) and the Imp Quattro. Oh the humanity!!!:sniff:

Only some of the cells are closed.... from the wingtips, cells 1,2, 5 & 6. They did the same thing with the Flow and others to maintain internal cell pressure (through the cross vents) and reduce luffing during lulls in the wind.

P.S. As an added "benefit" of calling it the Octane, web searches will also pull back a lot of hits for the paraglider that Ozone puts out with the same name. Are we that short on names? :puzzled:

Probably the most prominent use of the 4-Line FB control bar I have seen in any Ozone footage in quite a while.
