Hi everyone, I'm a newbie so sorry if I'm being dense!
Just bought a 3.5m imp quattro and it looks smaller than I thought so I measured it and it's only 2.85x1.14m
Have I been ripped off? Or am I missing something? Even with a considerable error margin that's never 3.5metres!

You haven't been ripped off. The sizes are an approximation at best. If you order a 3m it would be like 2.8m and a 2.5 would be like 2.3 meters. These
are estimations everyone so i know they aren't right just examples.

I think the real issue is that you are taking linear measurements and power kites are sold in square meters. They are usually pretty close when the
kite is laid out flat. The amount of sail catching wind when the kite is in flight is called "Projected area" and since the kite is probably in
somewhat of an arc shape, the Projected area is always less than the sq. m size of the kite.

Also the 3.5m is 3.5sq meters.
If the kite were a Rectangle you would get 2.85 x 1.14 = 3.25m. Given that Some parts of the Kite are wider and longer than others, You kite should be
pretty close to 3.5 sq meters.

Coolio. Thanks guys. Now I just need some wind! Yay!
Oh, and perhaps some protective gear...

Nice kite. Now go get some hours on it.
Helmet for sure. Maybe knee pads. Kite killers are a must for me. (although there is much debate on this topic. Do a search if you would like. Better
block an hour or so, though.)
