here is a link that I made "quickly" to help all snowkiters understand a little more about ice screws.
It is VERY crude in a way what I am showing but....after the last 10 years on frozen lakes, Ive broken a few ice screw hangers and WORSE.....found ice
screws stuck in the ice with broken hangers....sticking out of the ice like a "trap" to catch the unknowing snowkiter, snowmobile rider etc.
It is not to be said that this is THE 100% way to do things but after teaching ice and rock climbing for a living (I am AMGA Rock Instructor
certified) for the last 14 years.....I can only help but cringe at the occasional mis use and misunderstood use of ice screws in snowkiting.
Enjoy!

The link won't work for me, but sometimes we go out on Chaumont Bay ice, and while Jan always has a few ice screws with him, he also carries an 18v
drill with a 7/8" spade bit, and several 2' lengths of 3/4" sch 40 pvc. At our set-up, he drills several holes in the ice pointing downwind, spread
apart enough to set up, and inserts the pvc 'anchors'. These are painted bright orange, or have flagging tape for visibility. These are used when
setting up, parking for a rest, etc. He uses the screws mainly for resting on the go, away from 'camp'. I could see the danger of leaving a screw,
or a broken one frozen in place.

Could find "Snowkite NH" (with the intervening blank), which turns up a personal page and a small business page, but couldn't find the info
referenced.
It might be locked down too tight wrt to security.
If you should shoot me a link to my FB account, I can format/PDF it for general consumption and for inclusion on the IMCS website.

Sam

@Zeb: You are credited on the first page. If it's not cool for me to host the images, let me know and I will pull the file.
