Boston Snowkiting?

Telestrat - 27-10-2011 at 11:54 AM

I realize I'm early for this but with snow in the forecast for tonight I was wondering....where do you folks from Boston go snow kiting on a day trip? I know some of you go to Lake Quannapowitt. Where do the rest of you go? Again - just for a day trip. Curious if the only good place is a frozen snow covered lake. Any big open fields that you frequent? I saw a website that listed a few places but that was from about 3 or 4 years ago - wondering if there are any updated fun spots.

Thanks and happy kiting!!

I generally ride on Lake Mascuppic in Dracut but aside from Lake Q there is
-Woodsom Farms in Amesbury
-PJP Park off of Rte 93 just south of Boston
-Lake Massabessic (sp?) in Manchester
-Long Lake, ME
-a number of spots in and around N. Conway that Feyd can loop you in on and Zebulon (sp?) used to take people on kite tours of Mt Washington and I'm sure he'll post here as winter approaches. I believe he worked at EMS in N. Conway but could be wrong. He also had a website but I don't recall what it was.

Some ride Nahant all winter long. I usually hit the mountains to ski with the kids from late December to early March but I have been to Nahant in February (I prefer KLB to kite skiing).

International Mountain Climbing School is probably the website you are thinking of.

You can also reach Zeb(ulon) at IMCS (603) 356-7064

He is on PKF as crabnebula, but is on very, very sporadically.... his profile email is probably a better method if you prefer email.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I'm a newbie landbaord kiter so this is going to be my first winter for snowkiting (which I am VERY excited about).

I live only about 1/2 mile from Lake Quannapowitt so that will be my "go to" spot but I really want to visit different areas as well.

Thanks a bunch!!
