martinipro - 26-10-2011 at 08:41 AM

Hey All:

It was a pleasure to meet you all at WBB. Time at the bash was way too short and I am aching to fly again!

If anyone is flying anywhere near NJ in the coming weekends please let me know.

Thanks :wee:

Kober - 26-10-2011 at 10:07 AM

WBB picture ???? nice ........
Can't do this weekend ....... I have late B-day party to prepare and day after is a big NO for action sports ......

Tibi - 26-10-2011 at 10:07 AM

I'm waiting for a weekend with S-E decent wind and I'll be going to Wildwood again.

ragden - 26-10-2011 at 10:21 AM

If it is too cold to be out on the water and there are SE winds predicted... I'll be at wildwood, unless I have other plans...

Otherwise, its a toss up if it is worth the trip or not.. Generally anything with EAST in it is worth the trip (barring rain predictions).

This weekend does not look good, but I'll be checking the forecasts more often to see what is going on... Perhaps we will get lucky sometime soon...
;)

It's your birthday EVERY weekend right? ;-)

Martin, i'll let you know when we're flying.

martinipro - 26-10-2011 at 05:01 PM

WBB pic indeed!

Thanks Jaymz can't wait.

ragden - 2-11-2011 at 06:30 AM

Looks like this weekend could be fun at Wildwood. If I'm guessing right, low tide will be around 1000hrs Saturday morning. Current predictions are showing NE winds around 16mph all day. That could be a lot of fun.

The downside? Well, I cannot really afford a hotel night Friday night, nor would I want to get up at o'darS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-thiry to make it while the tides are still low. I'll probably head to Lewes, DE and attempt hyperthermic kitesurfing instead. Shorter trip, and not as tide dependant.

Hope you guys can take advantage of the winds predicted (if the forecast holds through)...

NeilDeans7 - 2-11-2011 at 01:19 PM

My friend Rich and I plan to go to Beach Island State Park, NJ either the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving Day to Buggy. The more the merrier!

martinipro - 2-11-2011 at 01:23 PM

Count me in! keep me posted as to when exactly you are going

NeilDeans7 - 2-11-2011 at 03:30 PM

I'll let you know as soon as I find out which of the two days Rich has off from his job.

Hell, if I can break away from the in laws for both days that would be great but not probable.

Jaymz - 2-11-2011 at 07:20 PM

I may be in for this. E-ESE are best. Check tides. High tide is all soft sugar.

RichandShannon - 4-11-2011 at 01:15 PM

NeilDeans7 - 4-11-2011 at 07:24 PM

RichandShannon,

Not at all... as I mentioned I'm waiting for Rich to tell me which day he is able to go.

NeilDeans7 - 21-11-2011 at 07:47 PM

Rich Zintner and I are going to Buggy at Beach Island State Park, NJ on Saturday November the 26th. The winds look like they might be light but it's still a day to buggy! The plan is to meet at the circle at the end of the park hit the beach from there.

The more the merrier!

Neil

Kober - 21-11-2011 at 08:04 PM

I think I can be there on Saturday ........ let me know when you know the time .........

getGraph.png - 12kB

lad - 21-11-2011 at 08:24 PM

The Circle meaning around 24th st....6th ave.? Or all the way down the south end?

Kober - 21-11-2011 at 08:28 PM

south end of park ( last parking lot )..... buggy and 4x4 entrance ......

Jaymz - 21-11-2011 at 09:55 PM

Light offshore wind. Temps mid 50's. Low tide around 2:00.
I'll try to make it.

shehatesmyhobbies - 22-11-2011 at 02:48 AM

I am very disappointed that I now will not be able to make due to a change in my work schedule.

rocfighter - 22-11-2011 at 05:33 AM

Man I wish this was't so far away. Plus I have to work as well. Soon oh yes, Soon I will be back!!

ragden - 22-11-2011 at 05:45 AM

If I have the destination right, then this is abour 4 1/2hrs from me. Not bad really. Still a bit on the long side for a day trip. Unfortunately, I do have plans this weekend already. Perhaps another time. Hope you guys have fun...
:)

lad - 22-11-2011 at 07:34 AM

Just a little longer drive than WW for me......might make it if my extra kite arrives and my other gear is in order.

MikeDobbs - 22-11-2011 at 09:29 AM

Oh man- My wife has already made plans for me on Saturday- hopefully I can join you next time!

martinipro - 22-11-2011 at 10:30 AM

I will try to make it as well. I kind of got forced into another plan =/

Anyways how wide is the beach? Winds don't look favorable at all, right around low tide winds will shift further in the wrong direction.

I guess the rain we're getting will help pack some of the soft sand.

Kober - 23-11-2011 at 12:36 PM

Looks like predictions for wind direction is nowhere near what we want ..... Friday looks perfect .... can you do Friday ???
Any suggestions for another meet up spot ????
Keansburg NJ will work ..... but of shore wind will be very distracted there .......

Jaymz - 23-11-2011 at 07:16 PM

But at least it will keep you out of the trees ;-)

lad - 24-11-2011 at 01:55 PM

Is Friday still a consideration? - what will the winds be like?

Jaymz - 24-11-2011 at 05:07 PM

Fridays wind forecast is WSW(offshore) in the mid teens. Low tide around 1:00. If anyone else can make it, I can be there around noon.

lad - 24-11-2011 at 05:41 PM

Is this at the every south end of Central Ave?

Jaymz - 24-11-2011 at 07:51 PM

LAST parking lot @ Island Beach State Park.

Rich and I will be there around noon.

martinipro - 24-11-2011 at 10:14 PM

I can't make it tOmorrow =( have fun!

lad - 25-11-2011 at 03:01 AM

I'm starting to consider all the Holiday and shopping traffic going on Fri... :-(

Kober - 25-11-2011 at 07:30 AM

I will be there ......... Friday around noon .....

lad - 25-11-2011 at 10:52 AM

You guys must be having a blast, it is sunny and 64 down here...like September! (but still too wet!)

Jaymz - 25-11-2011 at 07:41 PM

Yup, Sunny, 64, and a holiday weekend....which bought out so many fisherman there was no hardpack to ride  Never saw it so crowded.
And rocfighter screwed up the wind forecast. 5-10mph wasn't quite enough Dave. Please go return that new Rev so we get our wind back ;-)

martinipro - 25-11-2011 at 08:22 PM

Well that is dissapointing. MikeDobbs and myself are planning on a trip up to Atlantic beach(long beach, NY) on Sunday. Anyone wants to join us?
Winds are forecasted to be at 14mph dead onshore. Low tide at 3:30pm.
I will be arriving Around noon.

For the address see the mikedobbs invitational posts.

Hope to see a few of you there!

Kober - 25-11-2011 at 08:36 PM

Fisherman pole forest ...... thats how beach look like today ...... If anyone plans to go tomorrow ..... is a big NO .......
.........also ...... off shore wind is NOT kiteable at all on this beach ........ dunes are too high and create big win shadow .......
My opinion ...... If there is no East wind covering area ..... there is no reason to go ...........

NeilDeans7 - 29-11-2011 at 12:10 PM

Rich Zintner, his Girlfriend, my Brother and I went on Saturday. The wind was not great but good. We got there just in time for low tide in the afternoon.

However...I have never seen so many surf fisherman on a beach in my life! Damm fisherman, they get in the way of two of my favorite things; Kite Bugging and White Water Kayaking. We then moved up to the beach to Seaside Heights and got a little flying in there.

Wildwood would have been another hour to drive but I think I'll drive that extra hour next time.

Anyone want to go to Wildwood or Long Island, NY latter in December?

martinipro - 29-11-2011 at 12:18 PM

We've been going to long Island every weekend with MikeDobbs for the past 3 weeks. We are yet to have a "bad" session. With SSW/S/SSE Winds you cant go wrong.

This week low tide will be at 8:30-9:00 am. so it may not be ideal. Next week however we may be talking 2:00-3:00PM low tides. If winds are good I will be there.
Wildwood has enough hard packed that you don't need to wait for low tide. If winds are SES/SE/SEE I am game any weekend day.

ragden - 29-11-2011 at 12:45 PM

Was actually looking at this coming Sunday (04 December) and thinking that might be fun. Too bad about the early low tides. Wind direction is right though. Not sure I want to make a day trip of it though... Long ways to go for a day trip... That and I've got some painting projects for this weekend. We shall have to see what the 10th & 11th look like. I could be tempted to head towards Wildwood if the winds are good...

NeilDeans7 - 30-11-2011 at 06:19 AM

Getting ready for the holidays and working on my house. However... the 10th or 11th at Wildwood sounds like a good possibility to me. I won't be able to make it for both days.

lad - 30-11-2011 at 07:02 AM

I could be up for any weekend at WW...would still consider a driver further North.

martinipro - 6-12-2011 at 10:55 AM

NNW winds any good at Wildood?

Forecast says 14mph winds, Low tide at 1:30PM on Saturday.

With all the rain, there may be a fair amount of hard packed.

ragden - 6-12-2011 at 11:10 AM

Its rideable, but side-off shore. Not the greatest direction, but rideable... More west would be better for off-shore...

cheezycheese - 6-12-2011 at 11:14 AM

I am off the wknd of the 17/18th. Pray for good winds...

lad - 6-12-2011 at 01:09 PM

Got me:
- a fresh (used) FB quiver,
- new (used) Bigfoot buggy,
- and LOTS of (new...and Goodwill) thermals!

..........ready whenever you guys are! :karate:

Tibi - 7-12-2011 at 08:08 AM

About the wind... it's a bit early to trust predictions for Saturday. If we'll see NW wind above 10 mph I'll be considering a trip to WW.
Martin, on what site are you reading these predictions? Some sites are overestimating the wind speed.

lad - 8-12-2011 at 08:43 AM

jeesh, today's WW forcast:
"Partly cloudy skies. High 43F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. " :bird:

ragden - 8-12-2011 at 08:50 AM

Thats a decent wind direction for off-shore. Could be a lot of fun. Tides are shifting the right times. Could be a good weekend. Will be a little bumpy though. Not sure what my plans are for this weekend, but heading up for one-day's riding seems a bit much... (Sunday predictions do not look too hot).

martinipro - 8-12-2011 at 08:55 AM

Keep us posted. I would definitely be game this weekend.

ragden - 9-12-2011 at 06:28 AM

Unfortunately, the wife is begging me to not go. Her argument is that I have an open sore on my left eyelid from where the doctor removed a skin flap. I think it is healed enough that I would be fine... but she is begging me to not go. So... Since today is her birthday... I'm going to have to concede this one to her.

I'll be checking the winds again at Wildwood in two weeks. I hope someone can get out and ride.
:)

lad - 9-12-2011 at 09:09 AM

Tell her I could lend you my googles

ragden - 9-12-2011 at 09:27 AM

Wind still gets through the sides of goggles and irritates the eyes. I have three or four sets of goggles... she wouldn't let that go either... I tried though...

lad - 9-12-2011 at 09:33 AM

there's still a lot of possibilities...:wink2:

ragden - 9-12-2011 at 09:38 AM

you make funny...

The wife begged me to not go. I agreed (this time).
I might try to convince her to let me go to The Bowl tomorrow afternoon, but I'm not convinced the wind direction is ideal. Might give it a shot anyways... We'll see...

Wildwood in 2 weeks? Maybe.
:)

lad - 9-12-2011 at 02:31 PM

Keep me posted on the bowl...here's hoping there's no discarded syringes left there to puncture my Bigfoots! :sniff:

lad - 25-12-2011 at 09:29 AM

Wildwood forecast: Mon, Dec 26:

Day: Sunny and windy. Highs in the upper 40s. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
Wildwood Crest low tide 2:40pm

martinipro - 25-12-2011 at 09:54 AM

Sounds very interesting... Lad, thinking about going?

Anyone else? Ive been hoping for a wildwood session since WBB so i may go.

lad - 25-12-2011 at 10:44 AM

I'm thinking of it...tho it will be a long 3 hr. drive for me in my shaky Mitsubishi (aka "The Pinata")

martinipro - 25-12-2011 at 06:45 PM

So lad are you in? For me its like a 2.5 hour drive and I'd consider it if more people come.

Anyone else available tomorrow? Winds are supposed to be about 19mph throughout the day.

lad - 25-12-2011 at 07:22 PM

I'm intend to try to be there noonish, as long as my car can holds up. I guess I'll start down somewhere around the Crest, where the Bash usually is. If you don't see me, look for the tow truck on the way back home! :ninja:

martinipro - 26-1-2012 at 12:37 PM

Ok... Going through withdrawal here.

Anybody around NJ doing some kiting this weekend?

barnes - 26-1-2012 at 01:40 PM

I miss NJ sessions....living in Idaho right now, but I'll be back in April and desperate for some Wildwood landboarding!

lad - 26-1-2012 at 03:37 PM

I could be persuaded to go to WW this weekend...got a new car now (another reason I'm liquidating the buggy and other stuff).

martinipro - 26-1-2012 at 03:46 PM

Lad, good to hear!! Same here, was forced to replace my car recently!

Also, just got the Bar! looks great!
hmmm WW.. I't tempted.

lad - 26-1-2012 at 04:04 PM

Just gotta know the conditions for this weekend - not the crazy gusts we had last time down there.
I see rain forecast later this week:
Damp hard-packed: good....deep puddles: bad!

The north end(s) Ragden used do seem to give a few more wind-direction options,
tho they don't look as long and as wide open as the Crest area.

Kober - 27-1-2012 at 02:43 PM

Sunday ..... around 12pm .... Sandy Hook ocean side ..... parking lot A
.

I will be there with few friends to let them try trainer kite .... time to bring new people to sport ....

Kober - 29-1-2012 at 08:50 PM

Another fun session ended ...... with more experience under my belt , more footage to edit, more sand in my boots..... wet kite .... and more stories to tell......
Thanks everyone ......

Kober

lad - 17-2-2012 at 10:00 AM

Hmmm...Wildwood forecast this Sat.

Sunny, 47, low tide around 11AM, winds 10-15 WNW (turning later to S)

martinipro - 17-2-2012 at 11:20 AM

That doesn't sound too bad. I may be up for a trip to WW.
Ill post something here tonight if I can make it or not.

Anyone else fro the Jersey crew available?!

lad - 17-2-2012 at 01:11 PM

check out the DC kiters thread on WW...they are declining! ;-(

martinipro - 17-2-2012 at 01:53 PM

Boo!! I guess I'll default back to local fields then.
Still hoping for a weekend day with SE winds. I bet we'll have people make an effort then!

doddg - 17-2-2012 at 02:07 PM

I dont live in jersey, but I am thinking of going to Wildwood to buggy either the 3rd and 4th weekend in March to get ready for WBB which is just 4 weeks later. Let me know. Thanks

Statistic - 17-2-2012 at 02:58 PM

Martinipro-

any interest in doing long beach? I'm thinking about going out there. Low tide at 10:45 am. Looks like winds light w in the morning but shifting to 10-15 sw in the afternoon

martinipro - 17-2-2012 at 03:01 PM

Hey Statistic! W winds are no good at all.
I was just talking to Cheezy right now, NW winds around 3pm doesn't look good. There will be no hard packed left by then...

martinipro - 17-2-2012 at 03:04 PM

Long Beach is only good on SSW/S/SSE winds and only during low tide. Anything else is a bust.
Conditions don't look favorable for any day this weekend.

Statistic - 17-2-2012 at 03:09 PM

That's a bummer - what site do you guys use to check conditions?

martinipro - 17-2-2012 at 03:50 PM

I use noaa

Tibi - 22-2-2012 at 10:54 AM

This Saturday, looks great for Wildwood: NW wind and clear sky. Low tide is at 3:39 pm, so the beach would be really good from around 1:00 pm until dark.

martinipro - 22-2-2012 at 11:04 AM

I may see if I can make it. Leaving town on sunday so may be a little busy getting stuff ready.
What is the beast season for onshore winds at Wildwood(SE)?

ragden - 22-2-2012 at 11:24 AM

There is no "best season". You have to catch it when it happens. Spring/Fall are normally good times, but over the years, I have never really noticed any particular time when it happens more often than not... Just watch for it, and go when it happens...
;)

lad - 22-2-2012 at 11:38 AM

I'd be up for WW this weekend fer sure - (tho' today and thur look warmer!)

Tibi - 22-2-2012 at 02:09 PM

Hope the prognosis doesn't change (in a bad way), 'cause I'm willing to come, too.

martinipro - 23-2-2012 at 06:57 AM

It seems like forecast has changed for the worse... W winds

ragden - 23-2-2012 at 07:34 AM

So... West winds are still very rideable. Gusty, sure, but still rideable.
If I were in the area, I would consider going... Heading up north for a snowboarding vacation for a week.

Hope you guys are able to make something of the changing conditions.
:)

Tibi - 23-2-2012 at 08:28 AM

I just checked Wunderground.com and from 1pm on Saturday they are showing WNW winds. We'll know better tomorrow, or even Saturday morning.
I looked at the WW beach in google maps and it's oriented almost perfectly SW to NE.

ragden - 23-2-2012 at 08:34 AM

Anything with west winds is "rideable". It will be a little bit lumpy, but rideable. I've ridden there when winds have been due north, and due south. Not always the best runs, but still rideable. Be wary of the "speed corridor". When winds are out of the west, the section of beach just north of the pier, up to where the convention center is can be super crazy strong. I have had some amazing speed runs across that section of beach in off-shore winds. Just... be prepared for someone to turn on your afterburners...
;)

martinipro - 23-2-2012 at 12:32 PM

I'm still debating. Winds at 3pm are supposed to be 28mph gusting to 37.

lad - 23-2-2012 at 01:20 PM

Buggy Wildwood Saturday 2/25
:wee:

Tibi - 25-2-2012 at 06:57 AM

Come on Martin! It's gonna be fun! (Hopefully.)
We are meeting at the Apollo motel, little bit South of the usual place - Shalimar.

Kober - 4-3-2012 at 12:24 AM

I am planning to be at Sandy Hook tomorrow ( Sunday ) , parking lot A for static session with my X19 ... around 11am
Around 1pm moving up to Horseshoe Cove at Sandy Hook ( small parking lot ... not sure of name ) for kiteboarding session ......
Contact me if anyone want to join me .....

martinipro - 4-3-2012 at 01:15 AM

Good luck man! Wish I could join but Im out of the country until at least Thursday night. Let us know how it goes!

lad - 7-3-2012 at 09:04 AM

Wind Alert has things looking nice this Friday Afternoon...low tide at 2ish, NW winds at 10-20+ (nice break from the 30-40!)

Tibi - 7-3-2012 at 11:24 AM

Can't take the day off from work anyway... but I see 50% chance of rain for the entire day this Friday...in Wildwood.

Kober - 14-3-2012 at 06:31 AM

Island Beach State Park
Friday March 16
Forecast shows right now perfect on-shore winds 15-20mph with low tide at 10 am .....

Me and Jaymz will probably try to buggy from around 8-9 am for few hours ...... unless conditions will change ....

lad - 14-3-2012 at 07:27 AM

Dang...that's about equidistant from me as Wildwood... :-)

lad - 14-3-2012 at 07:45 AM

That would be an early start, tho!

Kober - 14-3-2012 at 07:47 AM

How far ???
For me is 80 min drive ..... and 2.5h to Wildwood ...

lad - 14-3-2012 at 07:54 AM

3 hrs, 10mins - leave before 7, I suppose, accounting for all the rush hour?
Enough beach at low tide for passing each other?
