I want to try kiting on the water so bad but I know the first time I do I'll be hooked, not a bad thing til you consider the conditions I have here lol

a lucky FRIEND has an '11 Cab race 183. and amazing it is!

i need to bum it for a couple hours to get it wired for real effect.

Jekyll is friendly for light not too much current.

its gonna be howling any way!

plenty of help to get someone in the water, if motivated, and yes its gonna be a skin session moment!

Just got off the blower with Chris at HQ and he thinks the Matrix prototype will be in within the week, so yeah, he will bring to JIBE. Just no production kites yet.

Don, I have your old Liquid Proof 151 board and plan to get a little wet that week.

I have a 19m Charger, Phannies and the Neo 11 m's, both version one with modified removable 5th line and a Neo II

...plus all the other gear....

How much different is getting on the water from wakeboarding?

PHREERIDER - 18-4-2011 at 12:35 PM

like wakeboarding behind a helicopter! kinda similiar in the "tow" element. its the sailing element that escapes most in the big picture, not to mention the reflexes, which takes some time.

controlling the kite harnessed in the water seemed an early hurdle for me. good kite control really can makes the board stuff come together quickly. going over the front is common and are much more tolerable than a front slam on a wakeboard at speed. first 10-20 hours of wrestling the kite, the board, you! is the culling element. the best way to lessen the board mishaps because of kite errors is DRAG until you can control position, have one handed stability and relax. you are much better prepared to handle the board at this point. if patience and persistent are present it all comes together.

tridude - 18-4-2011 at 03:52 PM

amen Phree dragging with kite control and staying upwind will enhance board starts.....................once your on the board remember to let the kite run and not choke it out with bar position (in)....................add a Door and your off!!
