Opinions on an 07 Naish Shockwave?

p8ntballsk8r - 15-4-2011 at 02:09 PM

I didn't like the 06 Octane I had, and I'm now looking at this kite. I've got no experience with a SLE. How is Naish as a brand? Will this kite in the 12m size give me comparable boost to an 05 Frenzy? I'm looking for a lot of float or lots of depower. Would you recommend this kite?

Lastly, how much are they worth these days?

thanks for the help guys, I've gone through 3 kites in the last 2 months and am really looking for something permanent

this is a second year of depower tubes. soft feel with the pulleys. very powerful all terrrain . kinda cabrinah feel. 1;1 conversion.

definitely give float, lots of adjustments bar and bridle.

value.... if it holds air $200, mint 300 complete.

whats up with the 06 octane?

Thanks for the info on the Shockwave. Idk exactly, but I just didn't like the Octane. I was in lower wind conditions, and only my 2nd and 3rd time on an LEI, but the feel was just wrong. It's a delta kite, and was too small for what I want. Also, the safety was a 1-line system, I wasn't a real fan of it. The bar didn't have much throw, and I couldn't see myself going huge in it. Since that's the reason I kite, I decided enough was enough. I really liked my friends 13m 08 Rev, so I'm looking for something comparable. Would you say the shockwave will be big enough for me? I typically ride in 14-22knot winds

Hey

The 12 meter Shockwave should work fine in 14 to 22 knots. Thats probably pretty close to suggested wind range for that size.
Thats the kite I learned on. I don't remember a whole lot on how it handled. I believe it will be fairly slow turning. There have been a lot of improvements since 07.
I have an 08 Rev and the Rev has about the same wind range, but a little more pull on the lower end.
Naish quality is probably close to or the same as Slingshot about as good as you can get I would say.
Like Phreerider says don't pay to much for an 07. Check the bridles well as they will be fairly hard to find and expensive to replace.
The Octanes you have are a totally different kite in higher winds. They are C-kites so they don't have very good low end and are sluggish in low winds. At the higher end on their wind range they should boost you huge. Like you said there is very little throw on the bar, so not much depower. You have to keep them at the edge of the window for depower.
I'm guessing but a nine meter Rev will have more low end than the 12 meter Octane.

Good Luck
John

if you want c-kite boost AND depower. c- kite hybrid.

12/13m 2009 , 2010. most brands have a model .

besides canopy shape, the stopper ball really brings the hybrid system together plus gives the arms a break.

the navigator works beautiful on them. this also puts the charger in similar performance range. charger 15, same class with smoother feel as 13m tube. charger has a c-kite when locked down.
