Anyone interested in kite buggying in St. Augustine on Sunday, 3/20? Winds are forecast to be strong and on shore all day. Low tide is at 3:20 p.m.

Windfinder superforecast shows 15-20 E from Sunday noon 'til sundown. NOAA agrees. Is that enough? http://www.windfinder.com/weatherforecast/augustine_beach_bu...
Jekyll Island also looks good. 15-20 ENE all day. http://www.windfinder.com/weatherforecast/jekyll_island

i got skunked, did you? i hung out from 1230 to 1;30 with the wind at 4-6 mph on both my meters. i kite surf showing 10mph a mile behind me at the
mayport air station but nothing at the beach.
but i got a lot done at home

I wouldn't say skunked, but yes what I experienced was oddly low at the coast. Driving over from Gainesville the winds were cranking. It was
getting jazzed, but somewhere between Palatka and the beach the wind dropped markedly.
I was jazzed to try my new 15m Phantom so the low winds worked pretty well for me. It was at times slow, but I was impressed how well the kite flew
in so little wind. Nice light wind buggy machine there. When I stopped for lunch I landed the kite and got my only true reading of the day: 3 mph.
That was very hard to buggy in, but I did make it back to camp in that.
There were three of us at Anastasia that day. Matt from Jax and Troy from southern Maryland. Matt had a 4m Scout and Troy had a 4.3m NPW. It was
slow going for both of them 'til about 4:00 when the wind finally lived up to the forecast--maybe 15mph.
This was way too much wind for a 15m arc. I completely depowered the Phantom and yet with the bar out I was sliding about 30% of the time at speed.
It was screaming fast. I resisted the urge to switch to a 10m and did another hour or so on the bug. Before I packed the kite I did some jumps.
Depowered the Phantom was nice and floaty with a 170 lbs of me beneath it. Mucho wind by the end of the day.
But, yes, very weird wind.
