Took a trip up to the tug hill kite fest this weekend, and spent saturday seeing some old friends a riding a bit, southerly winds weren't optimal, and
despite the large size of the fields they filled up with kiters pretty quick, a little to crowded for my liking, but fun none-the-less.
Soooo, I decided to head down to Oneida Lake on Sunday with some friends and we had a great day. Thick powder as you can see in the video, probably
18". We arrived at 10:00 to NO WIND, nuts, but the forecast was calling for the good stuff. So we waited around and things started to build by 11:30
or so. Once up and rolling the wind really picked up and I was nicely powered on the Montana 9.5.
Crazy weather day, Sunny bluebird to snowy squall, on and off, all afternoon but the wind was fairly consistent and smooth. At 2:30 a BIG one rolled
in and visibility on the lake dropped to virtually zero and everybody packed it in. Perfect timing because my legs were shot from riding in thick
beautiful pow....
Enjoy:

Yeah Bob, it was a great day. Sounds like things were much better on the Tug on Sunday than Saturday, but I was in Syracuse Saturday night and Oneida
was calling my name so I opted not to come back up. Still had a lot of fun on Saturday up on the hill.
Directors Commentary: that clementine had about 200 seeds in it - the one I had eaten right before had none.....figures once I turn the camera on....
Anyway, good seeing you this weekend however brief.snowspider - 17-1-2011 at 07:02 AM

Ah man I really wanted to kite Oneida this weekend, though I'm glad Ragden, Foilbrian, Snobdr, and I hit up sandypond. We got the wind a bit earlier
around 9:30am. We rode till 12:30 when we started to get whiteout conditions, got lunch and then went back in the afternoon. Winds were a bit
ballistic in the afternoon but still fun.ragden - 18-1-2011 at 06:50 AM
Oneida might have been the right ticket on Saturday, but we had fun hanging out with folks up on the hill. Sandy Pond was awesome on Sunday.
Glad you had a good time Ben. I'll have to check out your video when I get home.
