On a snowboard, do you have good upwind ability in for example, 18" of powder?
Is it as easy to hold an edge as if you were on water?shaggs2riches - 7-1-2011 at 11:03 PM
I've only been in a tiny bit of pow but could hold and edge real well. I'd imagine it would be the same for the deep stuff as well:dunno:manitoulinkiter1 - 8-1-2011 at 08:50 AM
Hi
In 18 inches of powder you can go upwind quite well, I would say you can hold your edge better than in the water. It's similar to water in that you
need enough wind though. If you don't have enough wind you go down wind. With barely enough I find it very tiring as it seems like a fight not to be
pulled over your board and onto your face. With lots of wind you can just go! I find in the deeper snow if you use a lot of back foot pressure like in
the water it helps keep the nose of the board up.

Cool , your description painted a good picture in my head. It does seem like you need to be powered up well too be able to stay/ and go upwind.ripsessionkites - 8-1-2011 at 07:57 PM
if you kitesurf, its going to be the same on a snowboard. if you ride powder, you'll use the same size you would on water feels just like water.
enjoy!!!Feyd - 9-1-2011 at 05:59 AM
Is there a substantial difference in drag snow vs. water or is it about the same?mdntdncr - 9-1-2011 at 06:18 AM

I read that and thought "What the hell is he talking about?"
I had to read it 3 or 4 times to get my head around it. Rode today and helped get 2 new riders up and running. One was in a tree for a while. Wrecked
2 pair of skis.
Very tired.Houston AirHead - 9-1-2011 at 05:42 PM
