Catchin' Air Series! Discovery HD

So I know its been a while my friends, building flight time takes away computer time unfortunately!

BUT!

I just realized TONIGHT is the premier of the "Catchin' Air" series on Discovery HD. I looked around very briefly to see if someone else posted but didn't see anything, SO if you don't know what it is its an action documentary about the sport of powerkiting. They are landboarding, mostly kiteboarding and surfing, and a little birdy told me a bit of snowkiting. Hood river, Florida Keys, Alaska, Utah, and more locations!

ITS TONIGHT! January 6th at 9pm (not sure what time zone, probably eastern) on Discovery HD theater. Check it out!!!

You guys crack me up :lol: I just got done watching it. I had it set to record because my little brother wouldn't get off the Wii. Freakin' hilarious when Sean got wrenched into the mangroves :P I think I'm hooked on a new series! I have to say, it was very well done. The narrator could have been a tad bit more enthusiastic, though. But, what do you expect. It's supposed to be educational. I want to see some landboarding action! :thumbup:

New episodes run Thurs. @9p. The first rerun is @ midnight. Last nights ep.will re-air today and Sun. @ 5pm. This is a six ep.series. Be there or be square... :cool:

Is this going to be exclusively kitesurfing or will land kiting, i.e ATB/buggying included? Im not complaining but there's alot more to the activity than just water (of course Im preaching to the choir here). It would be nice to see some KGB and buggying clips to give a 360 if you will of our sport!

should be a bit of a mix actually, one of the locations is the bonneville salt flats..... can't do much kiteboarding there i imagine...

Just got to watch it. I was proud of myself for puckering up when they were riding between mangrove islands before they mentioned the hazards of doing so. Yep, one guy got yarded through the trees breaking (tree) limbs as he went. Had to unhook the lines from the kite to pull them back through. Lucky to have a rescue boat. I didn't realize it was a series, but now I have it set to record all new episodes. We're almost mainstream now. At least people are becoming aware of what we do. Land activities on the show would be HOOJ for awareness that our sport exists.

I hope it does. thats where i first found kiting took my 1st lesson. And plan to spend next summer. when in hoodriver kiteboarding, its easy to meet kiteboarders from all over the world with crazy skills. Great place to be a spectator and the columbia river gorge is a beautiful place on earth.
man i cant wait. oh ya and theres no sales tax in OR. so great place to buy kiting gear.:thumbup:

I was wrung out from snowkiting all afternoon, so I suppose there's worse reasons for missing a kiting show.....

yeah have asked them about it being on in the EU and they said its planned but as yet no deal is done, watched all the facebook clips and it looks like a brilliant show, judging from all your comments its not disappointed either!!

Wow, did that s#*k last night or what? Not sure why that show even went to post production. I can see why maybe going into uncharted territory has an allure but that wasn't a good show since they didn't get to ride but maybe 1 day out of a week. I've enjoyed the show for the first 2 episodes but last night was a let down. I did like the beach starts though.

Bob, i totally agree. imho, the Oregon show was the best. i feel like these guys are idiots for putting everybodies lives in jepardy. yes the allure blah blah blah, but i dont feel this is a great way to introduce our sport to the masses. i think some more emphasis on locations/oppurtunities that the average joe-kiter can enjoy would be much better... :cool:

I agree with both of you! Although I still like the show and the thought that they were stuck out there for days waiting for the weather to change so they could leave did still have me clinging to the show. As far as getting out there on the boards and riding, was good, but way to short.

Let's see what happens next week!

I saw the Alaska show last week! WTH? I also haven't seen the Pacific Coast show. I've seen Florida Keys for episode 1, Hood River for episode 2, and then the sucky Alaska episode. Is it in a different order in different locales?

Great. I deleted it as soon as I saw Alaska I assumed it was the painfully boring episode from last week. They should have entitled that episode "whah I 'm cold and want to go home".

There were two good episodes and the rest was crap.
Now this is a good kiting documentary - Manera - Waterman experience
If you have the bandwidth watch full screen. Outstanding HD cinematography.

They must just have it laying around. I bought 2 of them for the boys last spring. Same exact boards.
