I made a kite bike conversion kit for my custom stainless buggy. So now it can be either one.

Totally cool. How'd you make up that downtube?
krumlybuggydanny - 25-9-2010 at 06:10 PM
WG that looks great, are you planning on taking it to Wildwood?
If so any chance I could take if for a quick spin?
I have always wondered what they ride like, but since they are so rare I never got to try one.WELDNGOD - 25-9-2010 at 06:21 PM

Ditto, WG. I fall (or get yanked) out of one with three wheels enough, else I might try a conversion as well:roll:buggydanny - 25-9-2010 at 08:46 PM
A big thanks WG!!! This gives me another reason to look forward to Wildwood.
Unfortunately, this is not the first kite bike in NA. About 10 years ago, Libre sold a kite bike rear axle options for their buggys. Peter the
doctor, a local kiter, ordered the option with his new buggy. He said that he tried it out once and did get the hand of it or like it that much. A
few weeks later he took a job on the west coast and moved before we got to try it. We lost touch with him and never found out how made out with it.popeyethewelder - 26-9-2010 at 02:00 AM
Well done WG, sweet ride there, I thought you had been quiet for a while, now we know why...looking forward to hearing how you get on with it....not
as easy as it may look.....and think wide turning circlesrocfighter - 26-9-2010 at 04:03 AM
Donnie, not only will you need your helmet but you better get a neck brace as well. I've seen you OBE from the buggy. I think this will be way more
forcefull.
Totaly awsome ride by the way. See you in Wildwood.WELDNGOD - 26-9-2010 at 04:41 AM
ok ,I got the first "custom" kite bike. Not to mention ,you could take my swan neck and beat a "libre" to pieces w/ it!
Thanks Carl, I will take right to it, I was a die hard biker in my 20s. Did'nt even own a car for about 9 yrs. Once it gets moving it will want to
keep moving. And ,yes real big circles. This will be at WW !WELDNGOD - 26-9-2010 at 05:05 AM
hey Rich, hopefully" seeing it in action" won't mean "signing my cast"bobalooie57 - 26-9-2010 at 07:13 AM
Very sweet looking ride WG. Very good job!:oshehatesmyhobbies - 26-9-2010 at 08:02 AM
For sure Donnie, No cast signing till after the bash!acampbell - 26-9-2010 at 02:14 PM
Bring it to JIBE in May! I have to think that a heavy kite bike would be a cool ride. Surely you could power slide one?WELDNGOD - 26-9-2010 at 05:09 PM
I'm covered from head to toe w/ sand. That was the MOST fun I have ever had w/ my clothes on!
I will tell you this, you better already have buggy skilz. Cause the bike ain't no joke. Fast too! I don't have enough beach to turn , my pegs dig in
. need to make shorter set. It is the weirdest thing starting off, but once it is up to speed , it is a piece o cake. Got lots of video, I will make a
vid and take out some stills to post later. :bigok:Todd - 26-9-2010 at 05:51 PM
WooHoo success! can't wait for the video.rocfighter - 26-9-2010 at 06:02 PM
Looking forward to the video also.kteguru - 26-9-2010 at 06:05 PM
Can't wait to see the vid WG. I'd love to give it a try at WW but I know I'd break my neck. I'll be happy just watching those more proficient with these things. See you at WW:wee:WELDNGOD - 26-9-2010 at 06:11 PM
Dean, you already got more time on two wheels than anyone I know. You are gonna try it dude! It's NOT a motorcycle thing at all, way different. AndI
bet it is alot like two wheelin a buggy. You could do this, I got faith.WELDNGOD - 26-9-2010 at 06:17 PM
:wee:
kteguru - 26-9-2010 at 06:26 PM
The only way I would have a chance with it WG is if I could hot wire it and it had foot straps. Otherwise I would end up being known as the first guy
from WW in the emergency room. Which of course wouldn't be good PR for the
event.WELDNGOD - 26-9-2010 at 06:34 PM
I'll try to get better pics tomorrow, i'm tiredbobalooie57 - 26-9-2010 at 07:03 PM
Man, that looks fast!WELDNGOD - 26-9-2010 at 07:08 PM
I was goin pretty fast for the maiden voyage, but it was just so much fun , I just had to.:D I'll get on a vid soon!arkay - 26-9-2010 at 07:53 PM
That's pretty damn cool. I imagine a bolt on back bike wheel would be fairly reasonable for most prefabs. So I've see a bunch of bikes before but
I've never really understood what the advantages or disadvantages are between a buggy. thoughts? I would think you can really dig is and turn hard
:Dripsessionkites - 27-9-2010 at 12:41 AM
very nice set, and looking forward to your VID
... ill be #2 and we can have some fun together at an event. tandem bike trikes :wee:rocfighter - 27-9-2010 at 03:27 AM
Donnie thanks for the teaser. Now we realy need the video:P
