Power Kite Forum

What am I missing?

There's been some noise on Arcursers and Kiteforum recently about modding, making and using even longer throw bars ... but it doesn't make sense to me - to use all that extra depower, surely that means leaning forward and using bad posture ...? Or is it so you can just let go and the kite has more range to depower? Or does it give you more trim range to set where you like to ride? Or ... what?

The older mods I've seen look to help turning and give a better lower wind range.

How?

How? LOL I have no clue. I have one arc and less than an hour on it. There were some yahoo arc folks that talked of it but I'm too noobe to understand all that jargon.

just something I looked up. I wouldn't know a modded kite from jack by flying it. Maybe in a few years I could try mods and tell a difference. My Venom has a TET mode and a Bob Dawson mod but it don't mean much to me as I don't know what it flys like without mods.

I read they can help but you would have to really know your kite to see a change. IMO

This life of kiting has much wisdom to be learned.

Can't be bothered with modding the kite too much but the long-throw bar seems easy ... just wondering what difference it would make :D

There's pics in the gallery of the long throw Zero7 bar by tungsten IIRC ... at the present time, the Navigator bar is just silly expensive for a few bits'n'pieces IMHO :D

I don't really like the idea of the new navigator bar. I was never a fan of the clam cleat system of depower lines. I had one a while ago and it just wore out the depower line so fast. I hope the navigator is better on wear and tear compared to the north bar systems
