Trainer kite - cheap as possible

... for my stingy-as mother. She got hooked on my Vibe 2.3 and she wants one but unlike me, isn't prepared to put out for the goodies.

Something 2m-ish or less, prefer a 4 liner (I do anyway) but will consider 2 liners.

Something that can take some crashes - my Vibe is cheap and cheerful and really tough but only 2 lines makes it tough to relaunch ...

Something sub-$100 :rolleyes::shocked2::puzzled::ticking: I'm sure I'm adopted eh.

Just an idea, give her your vibe, and upgrade yourself to a small 4 line, then the price won't sting as much!:lol: C'mon, it's your mom! Get her a nice 1.4M beamer, it takes over 20mph wind to yank me around, but it's fast and fun to fly. I think the smallest Hornet is 2M, and I haven't flown one, but flying the 2M Beamer is a lot of fun at 10-15, but a sudden gust at 20+ will scare the unprepared! But maybe that is part of the thrill of powerkiting for her, I know it is for me!

Or you could get her a PL Vapor 2.7 from Mike ;) ... just a bit over your sub-100 budget. ;-) But think of the Karma... er um, I mean Kami points. :roll:

Hey Kami have a 3m 4 line kite that I bought in china you can have free if you wish may just have to tune kite

I think the problem with the P3 would be for her to set up the bridle by herself. Same goes for meddling with Pansh bridles :lol: although she's in the same state as you, nocando - she lives about 5 minutes walk from Botany Bay.

The Sting's look pretty good, I'll ask her.
Otherwise, I think she'll have to put up with 2 lines ...

Vibe 1.9 is only $74. It won't drag her on her nose as easily as that 2.3 can. Tell her not to crash it if she is worried about relaunch. LOL.

Tough to get a 4 line in that range.

Yeah I know. I'm actually impressed with how quick she picked it up - maybe 2 or 3 hours in and she's already keeping it in the air nicely despite being almost no wind, doing figure 8's and even launched the Vibe off the ground a few times. I let her have a go with the Cult 3.5 in next to nothing wind and was greatly amused when she power-dived it and got dragged downwind :lol: she was already sitting down so it was a drag, not a slam.

Waiting for bbrex to get back to me about a Sting - she seems to have stretched her budget up to the $120-ish mark ...! :lol:

P3 isn't bad, just switch it over to 4 line once and leave it that way.
