man o man i'm hot!!!

soccer goals, fine...
jerk-off soccer coaches, i'll deal
monopoly on a PUBLIC PARK.... i'll take a few deep breaths and deal...

BUT THIS?!?!???!?

Screaming down the one open-ish part of the field today, and these little f***ers catch my eye, and i'm flat hauling... so i do the only thing i can do... jump out of the board.

I go up, and far down wind, crash and burn... the board smashes into these little "pins" and flat dies!! I go back and find my tire wedged under one of these... shredded!!:mad::mad:

Well positive note... i have three new kite stakes!!! (once i paint them neon orange)

what sets me off... almost as much as my tire... is the fact that they have b****ed at me about safety... how their kids dont pay attention to their surroundings when my kites are up... but they leave pieces of rebar in the fields.... man!!! i am so freaking angry about this... it seems like all i do is try to stay out of their way, try to obey their rules, all i do is pack up, avoid days when they play games... and i get dirty looks, coaches chewing me out, and rebar sticking up out of the ground.... and damaged gear...

So i packed up, drove down the road, and set up a meeting to meet with the guy that owns a sod farm... monday afternoon next week

AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Why do people have to be so difficult!!!

Yea that would take the cake, but its funny to read, no offence Drew.

I just came in the house with a bruised hip and read this so it cheered me up!!!! LOL.

I hit the ground hard off my board (no kite) and the binding bout twisted my foot off so I unhooked the straps. Got brave, took off a steep drop in the edge of the woods, board shot out, I was horizontal before I hit the ground the second time. Thinking I'll let that heal a bit now. Hahahaha.

But man I hope your score the sod farm. Bet you've been looking at it for years. I've been waiting on the right time to ask about a nice field right down the road.

Tired of driving 40 minutes to parks only to be let down. The old G Earth pics look great then you get there to find trees planted, parking lots and picnic tables.

Edit:: Nothing funny about the rebar, guess I'll have a walk about after reading that before I fly. Glad you wasn't hurt.

you're lucky one of those didn't end up in your bum!

Kamikuza - 6-4-2010 at 06:18 PM

Yeah could have been worse :flaming: I'd send a letter to the council or whoever operates the grounds and whinge about how your kid could have fallen on them blah blah basically pretend you're one of the soccer #@%$#!s.

I might have found a new park for riding too ... much bigger than my old one but dunno about the geography and how it'll affect the wind. Going to check it out today with some wind - was out with the Ace there yesterday but it was too pitiful to keep it in the air ...

Did just the one tire get toasted?

Not to be Eeyore but you might want to check the hub for chips/fractures/whatever that might damage a replacement tire/tube or cause premature failure.

Yes.... I went to summer camp with Murphy.

Yes.... pulling the flame thrower out of the garage can be a dark temptation some days.

Check your PMs.

were those 'treats' kinda set up organized like along sidelines or field separators? Or, were they just hammered in loosey goosy in the middle of play areas?
if it's the latter it reminds me of the tree huggers spiking trees for the chainsaw operators to discover.

Had the good omens god visit me this afternoon, a guy I know has a reasonable sized property with a road that links to a crosscountry coal coveyor system.

Have now permission to use it to fang about in my buggy, close also 10 minutes drive from my home.:singing::singing::singing:

Will be good from NE to SE and SW to NW, too many trees and ridges on both southern and northern side.

Area is relatively flat between two ridges and all cleared so no wind shadow ,

Will post pics later on.

Sweet! The spot I went to today was ok ... wind was a bit rough though. Grass was nice to ride - my first time

Drewculous - 7-4-2010 at 07:03 AM

i'm good today

its amazing what a double of Turkey will do for a man lmao!

there are things you can control in life, and things ya cant... it just gets under my skin, that people can be so... up their own a**es (that sounds about right) and so hypocritical.... where everything i do is wrong, simply because im not participating in their sport.... i really have nothing against soccer, or soccer players, or the AYSO... but man, some of the people around here, in that program, are just complete jerks...

In the end, im glad i found the rebar, because about the time a kid ran one through their leg, or it fired out the side of a city lawnmower and took someone out... that would be the end of the park period... and it is nice to have something like that around here, even if you do have to fight for a slice of it...

I'll just continue the way i always have... let them have their rebar till summer, flying when i can, then i'll clean the fields of rebar, pick up the trash everyday (gotta love the gatorade bottles everywhere), and ride all summer long.... and have a pretty damn good time doing it... once fall comes around.... hopefully i'll have a sod farm lined up so they can have the spot to themselves for a bit

Thanks for the input everyone.... always good to hear from some like-minded peeps, lol

I hate to dredge up old post but i may have figured out what those stakes were.
were there any large events at the park prior to you finding those ?
I saw the same re-bar configuration on a work site today holding down a Port-a-john.

I would of got a pic but it was being removed when I noticed them.

Drewculous - 16-4-2010 at 06:20 AM

maybe, but they were in the middle of the field.... i think they originally held down a small goal, and when they moved the goal, they just left the stakes...

now they are neon orange, with a foot-long piece of neon orange flagging on them... pretty decent markers now
