Here's what I started with
- 3.6 Meter HQ Beamer Kite (low aspect ratio) - High winds
- 4.9 Meter FlexiFoil Blade (high aspect ratio) - Moderate winds
- 1 Used Snowboard. Used since the snow is / was iffy at the start & end of the season, and I scratched the
heck out of the base on those days
- 1 P-tex candle and an old iron to fix scratched snowboard
- Step-in Bindings (K2 Clicker). More important when Snowboarding. Skis have them already
- 1 10 cm Ice Screw, to hold kite on frozen lake. Buy from an Ice Climbing store. NOTE: Bring Ice Screw with you as you ride on a lake, you may
really need it later...
- 1 Carabiner for Ice Screw
- 1 Extra set of lines (so you can 'gracefully' recover without killing a session)
- 1 Harness (Chest or Waist, as preferred)
- A couple 5 cm loops of 2 mil spectra cord. Perfect for making line adjustments
- 1 length of 5 mil spectra cord as a 'strop' if you are using handles. Tie an adjustable knot (figure 8), so you can find the perfect length during
your session. Beware, you can't release a strop while you flying on it.
- 10 cm+ of snow, the more the better. If snow depths exceed 20 cm, stay home, and leave it for me : )
- 1 measure of Kickin' wind
- Helmet, knee, elbow pads
- Goggles / Sunglasses
- Suntan lotion (even when cloudy)
- Your space hitchhiker's towel. You never know how far you might fly.
- Did I mention pads yet?
- Libations / liquid courage as required
- A big dose of patience...smokeblender - 24-5-2006 at 01:06 PM
Can you recommend any skis?barnes - 20-8-2006 at 02:00 PM
I don't know anything aobut skis, but common sense tells me the rounded edge park skis would probably best, going backwards, landing spins back wards.
Kite wise, I have a Pansh Legend 3m for high wind, and I'm buying a Blaze 8.5 for low winds.pkf - 20-8-2006 at 10:38 PM
