earlier in the week he was looking for a side rail. I don't know what happened to his but he was frustrated because no body had an extra .... but he found one somewhere

It looked to be a side rail off of a PL ST and I was thinking he could use a nice new XR+ to go with that blurr. He was a very nice guys and soooo stoked to win that kite. That was a another highlight of a great trip to the playa.

Hey doublespeed - nice to meet you Saturday night (sat beside you during the vids and you told me all the real stories behind the slidehow).

For me I think my happiness was finding that AOXOMOXOA feeling. I'd had it before but when I reached the marker on the In 'n Out I KNEW I was feelin' it. And that was despite the fact that I watched the Rev guy sail on a straight line to the flag where I had to tack back & forth and back & forth to get it. The bonus raffle takings were pretty sweet too ; )

Ah, but I'm wrong......I was happiest to meet all of you. I know there were other PKFers out there that I didn't meet or met but didn't realize they were PKFers. I didn't clue in to who Screwy was until I saw the back of his sweater.

Man it seems like it was ages ago and it's only been a day!

I don't know. Drinking (free) Ska Brewery beer while handing out mardi gras beads was definitely a big happy. My only regret was not making the out and back. Had to change kites and ran out of time. That was a fun event. I'll do it next year.

I had to head back to reality on Saturday, so I missed the Saturday night gala and raffles.

You know, ivanpah may be kiting ground zero in the world. I hope to slip back down there to enjoy the perfect buggy conditions a few times before next year too. The highlight for me is all the smiling friendly faces. We had a group going on the Out and back and I got separated because I was downsizing my kite out in the middle of the playa (again). I made a quick scan and couldn't find my group so headed SW as hard as I could go. I was by myself the entire trip there and sort of kept tracking toward a handful of kites up ahead of me. I would catch about 4 groups of kiters on the way but none of them were my crew. Finally as I pulled up to the crowd of buggiers at the destination I realized I had caught up with my group when I saw Screwyfits MC hammer pants and he turned around with a big smile on his face elated that I had gotten back in the fold. Someone likened making it to the destination to reaching the peak of Everest. We even made a "summit shot" with the banner behind us. That was the highlight of my trip and it was because of the people.

Freeman had to be the happiest guy there when he won the Blurr. No doubt. He was floating about 5 feet above the ground for an hour or more.

hands down I was the happiest. I flew the whole time in my gray skirt. Even two days I wore a matching gray duct tape bandage. Think it might be a new tradition for me. Always flying in a skirt. (well not when I am on snow) But add on to it, and the beer, I was super happy just to have a good group of fliers that were totally cool about just kicking it and flying with one another. I hate to say that some of the other kiting 'avenues' are starting to be overtaken by ego.. but buggy bro's (and sis's) haven't become fully consumed by this. Thanks guys for a great event, see you all again soon!!

9.6 KM on my GPS

however its not in a straight line, and I blew 2x tires on two attempts to get there.

I must be, since Im still in Las Vegas for another 4 days. 14 days total of LAS to last me until next year.

BeamerBob - 7-4-2010 at 11:26 AM

I heard it was 9+ kilometers out. My gps batteries died on the way.
