Demo kites At NABX

dman - 23-3-2010 at 05:24 PM

So I talked one of my friends who is just getting into kiting to go to NABX with me to help share some of the cost of the trip. The down side is he only has a 6mtr ace so far and we haven't been able to find a cheap smaller kite yet. I looked around for a few NPW 5's cause they are cheap and tough but couldn't find any. My worry is he will come and his kite will be too big to buggy mist of the time. Will anyone be demoing kites this year that he can "try out"? He needs to build up his quiver so this may be the nudge he needs to get started making some purchases.

I do not believe manufacturer demo kites are allowed per the rules. But I'm sure there will be a "friend" who will let you try some of their kites.

He can check out my npw9's. HQ stopped making nasa wings so now they are hard to find.

however there is only you (NPW Goddess) and Seiger Vliegers that still make them.

Power Kite Place as a few NPW from us.

I wouldn't have a problem with selling off my HQ 4.8m NPW. I've flown it maybe three times. Great condition. Comes RTF except for KS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s.

Todd has a beamer tsr for $180. Might be an option?

dman - 24-3-2010 at 05:54 AM

Yeah I saw Todd's kite and made a note to talk to him about it. I think he needs a 2 and 3 mtr to begin with and then we can work up from there to fill in around the 6mtr ace.

Rip are you saying that you sale NPW's?

Susan, I have talked to you about having a few 9's made for myself so that has been on my mind but I'm trying to make sure he has something next week at NABX. I'm sure that sooner or later I will be getting you started on a quiver of them for me though.

Thanks everyone

powerkiteplace.com stocks NPW5's made by Seiger Vliegers.

Bladerunner - 24-3-2010 at 06:56 AM

No Demos and no sales are allowed.

People will have lots of extra kites and will be happy to share. The trick is to speak up. You are welcome to try the same NPW Maven has for sale at the Canadian camp. If people are selling things they usually do it at after the event so they don't have to take it home.

csa_deadon - 24-3-2010 at 07:43 AM

Hmmmmmm, gonna have to tell rip that baggage prices are going up after the event!

macboy - 24-3-2010 at 08:45 AM

Yup - and if you're looking in the 2-4m range I have an overlap so there's foils to fly in my bag.

dman - 24-3-2010 at 08:51 AM

OK then, if anyone has kites to "TRY" then that will work for him.

Thanks for all the replies.

kitemaker4 - 24-3-2010 at 03:42 PM

I started getting things out of the closet today and found a bag that had two kites in it. They are both npw 5's one is a 2.4 and the other is 3.9. Let me know if you are intrested and I can send you some prices.

Have you tried the Russian and Polish sites? I got an 8 meter from Russia several years ago for, like, $125, maybe $150
