First NABX, now on hold

csa_deadon - 10-2-2010 at 09:44 PM

Fate certainly has a cruel hand. In the mist of finishing up quiver purchase, supplies, etc. fate dealt a cruel hand. Wife recently in a 55+ headon. Informed her that NABX on hold for now. She gave me a dirty look, and said like hell it is. Gotta love her.
But until we get the clear from the doc for her to walk NABX will have to continue without me. Which means, I won't have the chance to totally embarrass Rip.

lad - 10-2-2010 at 09:54 PM

We are certainly hoping for the very best for your and you family!

stetson05 - 10-2-2010 at 09:57 PM

I hope she heals well.

heliboy50 - 10-2-2010 at 10:08 PM

That sucks- wish her well from all of us.

ripsessionkites - 10-2-2010 at 10:27 PM

WTF!!!

bring her, and i promise to go easier on her in the tandem. she already has her own personal nurse to attend to her.

You have to come up with a better excuse than that. j/k

I wish her a speedy recovery.

Send your RII kites to Monty, and ill put them through the dust for ya.

macboy - 10-2-2010 at 11:15 PM

Wow. Life can change so fast. Prayers are with you guys man.

arkay - 10-2-2010 at 11:17 PM

holy crap. hope she's ok.

csa_deadon - 10-2-2010 at 11:44 PM

Discharged her Monday. She's got a broken right ankle, broken left collar bone, and a broken breast bone. She has told me to plan on going, but we're gonna have to take it day-by-day.

Rip Monty still has the RII. Gonna have to set up a day to get it from him. Oh wait I already have. Cool thing is the wife is now paying attention to weather and wind. Sunday was fairly decent with moderate wind. She looked out the window in her hospital room and said "It's so nice out, and there's some wind. Do wish you didn't have to be sitting here in the hospital worrying about me." Had to excuse myself from the room.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I'm just glad to still have her.

ripsessionkites - 11-2-2010 at 02:05 AM

call me if you need anything ... Kitebuggy-Mama can be down south to help out if need be.

Kamikuza - 11-2-2010 at 03:26 AM

That sucks :( hope all goes well ... best wishes to all!

Maven454 - 11-2-2010 at 04:47 AM

Best wishes.

deanaoxo - 11-2-2010 at 10:51 AM

Family first!

Your buggy family understands!

We're here for you.

She just got herself free registration is she does attend, let me know.

seeking aoxomoxoa~~!

awindofchange - 11-2-2010 at 12:50 PM

Wow, I am glad that she is pulling through ok. Be sure to send her our best for a speedy and full recovery. Family is the most important so if you can't make it then we all understand. There will be other NABX events - and we head out pretty much year round - not quite as awesome as NABX but the next best thing if you need to postpone for a month or two.

Best of health to you and yours!

PHREERIDER - 11-2-2010 at 01:33 PM

ALL the best for a full recovery.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
You probably know more about healing but I'm thinking that 6 weeks will be an important time for physio and stuff ?
Having to pass on NABX sucks but having your life partner still here and healing is priceless! :bigok:

Well put BR,

Best wishes!!!

csa_deadon - 20-2-2010 at 11:25 PM

Well fellow pilots we got GREAT news from the ortho surgeon. No surgery needed. She is progressing better then they would ever believed. She greats a walking boot on March 3rd, and she has informed me that I will be going to NABX! She was so serious that she made me make my room reservations on the phone in front of her.

Deano, she said to say thank you for the offer of free registration, however she said she would rather stay at home watching NCIS, Criminal Minds and House!

Thanks for all the well wishes, and see you all on the playa.

heliboy50 - 20-2-2010 at 11:56 PM

Right on:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Sounds like you got a good wife, man. Pretty cool when the other half supports you (not just the eye roll with the accompanying "What now?) Hope her recovery keeps going well, and see you there!!!

bobalooie57 - 21-2-2010 at 05:55 AM

She sounds like a keeper, for sure. Make sure someone shows you where the crystal patches are, and pick something nice for her!

csa_deadon - 21-2-2010 at 07:29 AM

Problem with the crystal patches is I know Jon all to well. I'm guessing that the crystal patches are real close to that place where he found the kids that run out and wash your car for $5.00.

kitemaker4 - 21-2-2010 at 07:56 AM

I got your crystal patch.

rocfighter - 21-2-2010 at 08:19 AM

WOW a broken breast bone. I did that 25 years ago in a roll over on the race track. 5 point harness not ajusted right I guess. It was a while before I could breath deep or laught without real discomfort.
Wish her all the best and refrain from telling jokes.

jellis - 21-2-2010 at 12:38 PM

Your wife is the greatest. Example; the time she pulled you out of a puke filled tent and took you to a hotel and washed you off and put you to bed. Now that's a great wife.
The funny part was the next day when you came to buggy camp to get your buggy.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

No problem, it will still be good next year should she want to come, you just contact me, and we'll make it happen.

Best of luck. I know what it feels like, and support goes a very very long way!

Would you mind putting up a mailing address so we can send her a card?

deanaoxo - 21-2-2010 at 10:01 PM

Might your wife have a name?

deanaoxo - 22-2-2010 at 05:15 AM

So, i bet she doesn't read here, or maybe she does and i should address her card as to: Yes Dear!

Good one sir! Well i for one want to thank her for her awesome attitude and her understanding of your passion.
