flexifoil scout?

Jason-G - 2-2-2010 at 09:38 AM

Does anyone know if the flexifoil scout is a good buggy? I fly inland and don't have access to a beach but do have a lumpy wheat field available now. It is too rough for my MTB and it sounds like a buggy is easier to get going although I have never tried one. This one costs around $700 - any suggestions for a good off/beach suitable buggy that is not too much $$

Peter Lynn buggies will treat you right and are much more reasonable cost wise. I have not kept tabs on the new buggy, but others please correct me if I'm wrong that it is the same buggy as the standard flexi buggy, but in powder coated steel instead of stainless.

Angus has a PL Comp XR+ with Wide Wheels for considerably less.

There have also been a couple of PL's that have come up in the For Sale section, that I don't believe were snagged.

Yeah pretty much, with a few welded reinforcements and foot pegs welded not bolted. The seat is updated but I have not seen it yet.

I like the PL's because the back axle comes off in 30 secs with no tools.

The new one should actually be a little stronger because of some reinforcements they added. A downside IMHO is that the footpegs are welded on now instead of removable. The coating is a 2 step process that is even a step above standard powder coating. The finish should be quite durable but I'm glad I have stainless since I do go to the beach from time to time. Also, I don't think it is available with a wide axle. The wide axle is mandatory for me for the stability and rollover resistance. I don't get into the spins and 2 wheel stuff so I want all 3 wheels planted. The wide axle is a huge advantage in this respect.

FWIW: It seems to keep getting lost in the shuffle that for the Scout "An optional stainless steel version is available" is one of the first items that is listed in the product catalog. Granted, selling body parts might be required, but....

Oddly the previous stainless buggy is not in the catalog, but is still listed in the products section of the website. Go figger.

They have stopped making the stainless Flexi buggy, any you see for sale on site and in shops are just the remaining stock.

Yeah, the Stainless components were made in Eastern Europe, and the rising Euro against the Pound really killed the margins.
